Based on a structural analysis of the work, this paper aims to examine the transformation and characteristics manifested in the exile gasa of Song Ju-seok, a 17th-century sadaebu. As an attendant who accompanied his grandfather, Song Si-yeol—the most influential politician and scholar of the era—throughout his exile, Song Ju-seok defended his grandfather’s ritual theories(yeron) and political stance. Having endured the trials and tribulations of exile together, the grandfather and grandson forged a special bond, and Song Ju-seok narrated the process of the Ritual Controversies(Yesong) from his grandfather’s perspective within Bukgwangok. In Bukgwangok, the author downplayed his practical experiences and subjective emotions regarding life in exile, focusing instead on describing the actual events that transpired. In doing so, he selectively presented facts to reinforce the legitimacy of his grandfather Song Si-yeol's position. As both a participant and an observer of the exile, he faithfully recorded the journey, aiming to convey his perseverance through these hardships to his clan, family, and political peers. In conclusion, through Bukgwan-gok, the author sought to overcome his real-world political defeat and prayed for a return to a world where correct rituals are restored. Through this study, the author intends to shed light on one of the diverse currents appearing in the evolution of late-Joseon sadaebu exile gasa.

이 글에서는 작품의 구조적 분석을 토대로 해서 17세기 말 사대부였던 송주석의 유배가사에 나타나는 변모와 특성을 고찰해 보고자 하였다. 당대의 가장 유력한 정치가이자 학자였던 조부 송시열의 유배를 시종했던 배행자로서 송주석은 조부의 예론과 정치적 입장을 옹호하였다. 함께 유배의 시련과 고난을 겪었던 조손은 특별한 관계를 맺었고 송주석은 <북관곡> 안에서 조부의 입장에서 예송의 과정을 서술하였다. <북관곡>에서 작자는 유배지에서 생활하며 겪는 실제적 체험과 주관적 감상은 축소했고 있었던 사건을 서술하는 데 집중했다. 그 과정에서 작자는 사실을 선택적으로 제시하여 조부인 송시열의 입장이 가진 정당성을 강화하였다. 유배의 당사자이자 관찰자로서 유배의 여정을 성실하게 기록함을 통해서 시련을 견디는 모습을 가문과 일족, 그리고 동류들에게 전하고자 하였다. 결론적으로 <북관곡>을 통해서 작자는 현실의 정치적 패배를 극복하고 다시 올바른 예가 실현되는 세상으로 돌아가기를 기원했다. 이 글을 통해서 필자는 후기 사대부 유배가사의 변모 과정에서 나타나는 다양한 지류중의 하나를 밝히고자 하였다.
