Gyeongsan Jain Dano-je is a representative Eupchi (邑治) ritual festival designated as National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 44 in 1971, and consists of five performances: the HanJanggun grand ancestral rite based on the story of General Han, Hojang-gut (masquerade procession), Jain dano-gut, Yeowonmu, and Jain Palgwangdae. Among these, the “Yeowonmu(女圓舞)” is connected to the legend of General Han and stands as the central performance of Jain Dano, possessing outstanding artistic merit and symbolic significance. Yeowonmu is an distinctive cultural heritage that combines the heroic narrative centered on General Han, the guardian deity of the local community, and his sister, its ritual function of praying for the village’s well-being, and the artistic value of collective choreography involving local residents. This study aims to reexamine the originality, artistic and social value of Yeowonmu, and to explore the possibility of preserving the identity of local culture and passing it on to future generations. This study adopted a field-based approach to description and analysis drawing on the researcher’s experience of directly participating in the transmission as a native of the Gyeongsan Jain area and a certified practitioner of Yeowonmu. The research methods included a comparative analysis of literature (geographical records, field reports, previous studies, etc.), videos, photographs, dance notation, and other materials, as well as interviews with tradition bearers and participant observation. The artistic, social, and cultural values of Yeowonmu, one of the performances of the Jain Dano-je, can be summarized as follows. First, it strengthens the solidarity and identity of the local community. Second, Yeowonmu is a women-centered cultural heritage that reflects the independent role and symbolism of local women. Third, Yeowonmu has a value as a tourism resource that contributes to the local economy. Fourth, Yeowonmu has value as a cultural content business. Fifth, Yeowonmu has value in traditional cultural education and in fostering cultural citizenship. Sixth, Yeowonmu has the value of psychological and emotional healing. In the future, it is hoped that Yeowonmu will develop beyond regional festivals into cultural heritage representing local identity, and furthermore, into traditional art content that can be introduced on the world stage.

경산자인단오제는 1971년 국가무형문화유산 제44호로 지정된 대표적 읍치(邑治) 제의(祭儀) 축제이며, 한장군 설화를 기반으로 한장군대제, 호장굿(가장행렬), 자인단오굿, 여원무, 자인팔광대 등 다섯 연희로 이루어진다. 이 가운데 ‘여원무(女圓舞)’는 한장군 설화에 닿아 있으며, 뛰어난 예술성과 상징성을 지닌 경산자인단오제의 중심 연희이다. 여원무는 지역 공동체의 수호신인 한장군과 그의 누이를 중심으로 한 영웅 서사, 마을의 안녕을 기원하는 제의적 기능, 지역 주민이 참여하는 집단 군무의 예술성이 결합된 독자적 문화유산이다. 본 연구는 여원무의 독창성과 예술적ㆍ사회적 가치를 재조명하고, 지역문화의 정체성 보존 및 미래 세대에의 전승 가능성을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 본 연구자는 경산자인지역 출신이자 여원무 이수자로서 직접 전승에 참여해 온 경험을 바탕으로 현장성 있는 서술과 분석을 지향하였다. 연구 방법으로는 문헌 조사(지리지, 현장보고, 선행연구 등), 영상, 사진, 무보, 자료 등을 비교 분석하고, 전승자를 대상으로 한 인터뷰 및 참여관찰을 병행하였다. 경산자인단오제의 연희 중 하나인 여원무가 지닌 예술적ㆍ사회적ㆍ문화적 가치는 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 지역 공동체의 결속과 정체성을 강화하고 있다. 둘째, 여원무는 지역 여성의 주체적 역할과 상징성을 반영한 여성 중심 문화유산이다. 셋째, 여원무는 지역경제 관광자원으로의 가치를 지니고 있다. 넷째, 여원무는 문화콘텐츠 사업으로서의 가치를 지니고 있다. 다섯째, 여원무는 전통문화 교육 및 문화시민 함양의 가치를 지니고 있다. 여섯째, 여원무는 심리ㆍ정서적 치유의 가치를 지니고 있다. 앞으로 여원무가 지역 축제를 넘어 지역 정체성을 대표하는 문화유산, 더 나아가 세계 무대에서도 소개될 수 있는 전통 예술 콘텐츠로 발전하기를 기대한다.
