This study examined the significance of the transmission practices of Nongak and explored ways to apply it in school education. Examining the transmission practices of Nongak traditions in the Honam region, including Imsil Pilbong Nongak, trainees are guided to grow into leaders who guide the village Nongak troupe, beginning as Mudong or Nonggu. During this process, they undergo a sequential educational curriculum covering creative expression, Buseumsa, Gulshin, breathing techniques, and instrument performance. The transmission of Nongak extends beyond interpersonal learning to a shared process in which skills and the culture of the local community are imparted to all members. Therefore, Nongak is a comprehensive form of musical culture that cannot be limited merely to the instruction of melodies. It is necessary to educate on the value of the transmission method by focusing on the sharing of cultural forms formed through communication and cooperation, rather than limiting its characteristics to the performance aspects of instruments. This study is significant in that it moves away from existing education centered on percussion techniques and melodic performance, and instead discusses Nongak educational methods from various perspectives to diversify and systematize instructional content.

본 연구에서는 농악의 전승 방식의 의의를 살펴보고 학교 현장 교육에서 적용할 수 있는 방안을 모색했다. 임실필봉농악을 비롯한 일부 호남 지역 농악의 전승 방식을 살펴보면, 무동이나 농구로 입문하여 마을의 농악패를 이끌어 가는 리더로 성장하도록 지도한다. 이 과정에서 창의적인 표현, 버슴새, 굴신, 호흡, 악기 연주 등 순차적인 교육의 과정을 거친다. 농악의 전승은 개인과 개인 간의 배움의 관계에서 더 나아가 구성원 전체에게 기예와 지역공동체의 문화를 사사하는 공유의 과정이다. 따라서 농악 교육은 단순히 가락의 교육에 국한할 수 없는 포괄적 영역의 음악 문화이다. 농악 전승 방식의 특징을 단지 악기의 연주적 측면에만 국한할 것이 아니라 소통과 협력으로 형성된 문화 양식을 공유한다는 점에 주목하고 그 가치를 교육해야 할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 기존의 타법과 가락 연주 중심의 교육을 지양하고 다양한 관점에서 농악 교육 방안을 논의하여 지도내용을 다양화하고 체계화했다는 데 의의를 둘 수 있다.
