Public art museums combine art interpretation with cultural access, participation, and relationship building, yet social value alone does not establish the artistic relevance of experiential activities. Focusing on food and tea as media for sensory experience and collective action, this study compares how official materials connect art and food-related activities in three programs held in 2025: The Whole Egg Manual, Chagyeong, and Docent Talk Talk. This study employs qualitative comparative document analysis to examine artistic starting points, the bases of art–food connections, and interpretive specificity, together with public, visitor-experience, and relational values. The Whole Egg Manual juxtaposes cooking and painting and discusses mixing, accumulation, slow production, and geological time, making the art–food connection the most readily traceable of the three cases, although the transition from food-related activities to artistic meaning remains undocumented. Chagyeong takes five works from the museum collection as starting points for tea selection and links the slowness and concentration of tea practice to viewing art, but provides no criteria for pairing individual artworks with particular teas. In Docent Talk Talk, cross-document comparison reveals that tea leaves are used both in the installation and in the tea-blending activity; however, official materials explain the participatory structure more specifically than its relationship to the work’s themes of circulation and balance. Across the three cases, material, sensory, and participatory acts can connect art and experience, but the presence of such a connection must be distinguished from the specificity with which it is interpreted. This study offers a framework for comparing artistic relevance and social value and proposes that museums explain the artwork element from which an activity originates, how it is transformed into experiential materials, actions, or sensations, and how that transformation relates to artistic meaning. The findings concern institutional documentation rather than actual artistic achievement or educational effects.

공공미술관은 작품의 해석·매개와 문화향유·참여·관계 형성의 역할을 함께 수행하지만, 참여의 사회적 가치만으로 체험 활동의 예술적 관련성이 설명되는 것은 아니다. 본 연구는 음식과 차를 감각 경험과 공동 행위를 조직하는 매개로 보고, 2025년 서울시립미술관의 「예술가의 런치박스―이은경: 달걀 사용 설명서」와 「도슨트 토크토크―영원 히 교차하는 춤: 얼그레이 만들기」, 국립현대미술관의 「현대미술과 다도―차경(茶景)」을 분석하였다. 기관이 생산·공 개한 프로그램·작품 설명, 발간자료, 공식 SNS와 모집자료를 대상으로 질적 비교 문서분석을 실시하고, 예술적 관련성을 예술적 출발점, 예술–음식 연결 근거, 해석적 구체성으로 구분하여 공공적·관람자 경험·관계적 가치와의 관계를 비교하였다. 분석 결과, 「달걀 사용 설명서」는 요리와 회화의 교차 및 물질의 혼합·축적, 느린 제작과 지질학적 시간을 같은 자료에 제시하여 연결 경로가 상대적으로 가장 추적 가능했으나, 세부 체험이 작품 의미로 전환되는 과 정은 기록되지 않았다. 「차경」은 다섯 소장품과 다도의 느림·집중을 작품 감상에 연결하여 감각적 접근 경로를 제시 했지만 작품별 차의 대응 기준은 밝히지 않았다. 「도슨트 토크토크」에서는 작품의 차나무 잎과 티 블렌딩의 찻잎이 지닌 소재 공통성이 확인되었으나, 작품의 순환·균형과의 관계보다 감상 공유, 재료 소분, 차 만들기와 마음 전달이라는 참여 구조가 더 구체적으로 설명되었다. 세 사례는 재료·감각·참여행위가 작품과 체험을 연결할 수 있지만, 연결의 존재와 작품 의미에 근거한 해석적 구체성을 구분해야 함을 보여준다. 본 연구는 예술적 관련성과 사회적 가치의 관계를 비교하는 분석틀을 제시하고, 미술관이 체험의 출발점, 체험으로의 전환 방식, 작품 의미와의 관계를 단계적으로 설명할 필요가 있음을 제안한다. 결과는 프로그램의 실제 성취나 교육 효과가 아니라 공식자료에 문서화된 범위에 관한 판단이다.
