Miss Willie Burnice Greene (1919-1960), a single female missionary of the Korea Mission of the Presbyterian Church in the United States, worked in both Kunsan and Jeonju Mission Stations as a missionary for evangelical and biblical education dedicated to women. This article first analyzes the missionary requirements that Green must meet before being deployed to the mission fields, namely, acquiring Korean language, adapting to culture, and studying the Bible education policy for women. Subsequently, this article analyzes the evangelism and Bible education in the Kunsan Mission Station period (1919-1940) conducted by the missionary in the background of the socio-cultural positions of women in mountainous area, rural area, and islands in Jeollabuk-do. In addition, this article examines the evangelism and Bible education she gave to women as a member of the Jeonju Mission Station (1947-1960). Through this, this article summarizes the missionary characteristics of Green. 1) She was familiar with the cultural situations of women in Jeonbuk in the 1920s and 30s, 2) Greene evangelized peoples of North Jeolla Province including Piando and Kokunsan Islands as a female missionary, 3) Greene built a dormitory-equipped Bible training center for Bible students, and shared flower seeds, and coat and clothing with Bible women and helpers. 4) Even after retirement, she donated $40,000 for building the library of Hanil Seminary at the time.

미국 남장로교 한국선교회의 독신여성선교사 윌리 버니스 그린(Miss Willie Burnice Greene, 재한기간 1919-1960)은 여성 전담 복음전도와 성경교육 선교사로서 군산선교부와 전주선교부에서 활동하였다. 본 글은 우선 그린 선교사가 현장에서 활동하기 위하여 갖추어야 할 필수 요건들인 한국어 언어 습득과 문화 적응, 또한 여성 복음전도를 위한 성경교육 정책을 분석한다. 뒤이어 본 글은 전북의 산악지역, 농촌지역 및 섬지역 여성들의 사회문화적 위치를 배경으로 그린 선교사가 행한 군산선교부 시기(1919-1940)의 복음전도와 성경교육을 분석한다. 또한 그녀가 전주선교부 소속(1947-1960)으로서 여성들에게 행한 복음전도와 성경교육 내용을 분석할 것이다. 이를 통하여 본 글은 그린 선교사가 행한 선교적 특징을 4가지로 정리한다. 1) 선교사 그린이 접한 1920-30년대의 전북 3지역의 문화적 상황과 여성 이해, 2) 여성선교사로서 그린이행한 서해안 비안도와 고군산열도에 대한 복음전도 선교, 3) 그린의 인간적인 면모가 드러나는 전도부인과 교육생들에 대한 꽃씨 나눔, 코트와 의복 나눔, 군산선교부 1달성경학원 교육을 위한 성경교육관 건축, 4) 해방 이후 한예정성경학교(후에 한일여자신학교) 교장 활동과 은퇴 이후 그린기념도서관 건축기금 4만달러 기증 등을 분석한다.
