Purpose of the Study : Historically the aspect of spirituality in the Korean church is often unclear, distorted, or misinterpreted. This is how Christian spirituality in the Korean church has developed in various aspects and it has caused considerable confusion regarding the understanding of spirituality and spiritual education within the Christian community. Under these premise, the purpose of this study is to explore theological and historical research on spirituality and to present some educational intervention that is needed to find a balance between personal and social spirituality within the context of the Korean church. Research Methods : This study explored and described general concept of spirituality and theological understanding of spirituality in evangelical perspective. Next, this study deals with three major factors that have influenced on the spirituality in the past history of the Korean church. Final chapter discusses three practical tasks as the dynamic educational interventions that combining all three traditions of spirituality. In terms of research methodology, data analysis was conducted by reviewing various relevant literature, and meaningful conclusions were sought to be drawn in connection with Christian spiritual education. Conclusions and Suggestions : The Korean church must teach and practice a balanced Christian spirituality. Likewise, Christian education should also aim for the practice of balanced spirituality. The duty of a Christian educator is to open up spiritual choices to people in all three domains regarding spirituality. All educational programs and activities for the spiritual development of the church must not be rooted solely in the aspect of conversion, but must be rooted in all three aspects: religious, moral, and a social responsibilities as a citizen. In this regard, this study proposed three educational practices in Christian spiritual education: self-reflection, communion with the Word of God, and participation in practice.

연구 목적: 한국 교회에서 영성은 역사적으로 모호하거나 왜곡되거나 잘못 해석되는 경우가 많았다. 이에 따라 한국 교회의 기독교 영성은 다양한 측면에서 발전해 왔으며, 기독교 공동체 내에서 영성과 영성 교육에 대한 이해에 상당한 혼란을 야기하기도 했다. 이러한 배경에서 본 논문은 영성에 대한 신학적, 역사적 연구를 탐구하고, 복음주의적 관점에서 한국 교회 맥락에서 개인적 영성과 사회적 영성의 균형을 찾기 위해 필요한 몇 가지 교육적 과제를 제시하는데 연구의 목적을 두고 있다. 연구 내용 및 방법: 먼저 복음주의적 관점에서 영성의 일반적인 개념과 신학적 이해를 탐구하고 기술하였다. 다음으로, 관련 문헌들을 검토하면서 한국 교회의 과거 역사에서 영성에 영향을 미친 세 가지 주요 요인을 다루었다. 마지막으로, 세 가지 영성 전통을 통합하는 역동적인 교육적 과제로서 세 가지 실천적인 과제에 대하여 논의하였다. 결론 및 제언: 한국 교회는 균형 잡힌 기독교 영성을 가르치고 실천해야 한다. 마찬가지로, 기독교교육 또한 균형 잡힌 영성을 실천하는 것을 목표로 해야 한다. 기독교 교육자의 의무는 영성의 이 세 가지 영역 모두에서 사람들에게 영적인 선택의 폭을 넓혀주는 것이다. 교회의 영적 성장을 위한 모든 교육 프로그램과 활동은 단순히 회심에만 초점을 맞추어서는 안 되며 크게 종교적, 도덕적, 그리고 시민으로서의 사회적 책임이라는 세 가지 측면 모두를 담아내야 한다. 이러한 맥락에서 본 연구에서는 자기 성찰, 하나님의 말씀과의 교류, 그리고 실천 참여라는 세 가지 교육적 실천을 제안하였다.
