This study examines the possibility of using a generative AI chatbot for narrative inquiry into moral identity. A pilot study was conducted with 25 adults using a semi-structured chatbot that integrated the Moral Identity Scale (MIS) with questions on moral experiences, conflicts, values, role models, and future goals. The findings indicate that participants evaluated the chatbot experience positively and that adaptive follow-up questions helped reveal more specific aspects of their self-narratives. Participants with higher MIS internalization scores also showed a stronger tendency to present turning-point narratives. These results suggest that a generative AI chatbot can function as an interactive narrative scaffold to support moral self-understanding, rather than as an autonomous evaluator of moral identity.

본 연구의 목적은 도덕적 정체성의 서사적 측면을 탐색하기 위한 생성형 AI 기반 챗봇의 활용 가능성을 확인하는 것이다. 성인 25명을 대상으로 도덕적 정체성 척도(MIS)와 자기서사 질문을 결합한 반구조화된 챗봇을 제시하고, 챗봇을 통한 도덕적 자기서사, 챗봇 사용 경험, MIS 결과를 분석하였다. 참여자들은 도덕적 자기서사 탐색 경험을 긍정적으로 평가하였으며, 후속 질문을 통해 자기서사가 구체적으로 드러나는 양상을 확인하였다. 또한 MIS 내면화 점수가 높은 참여자들이 전환점 서사를 더 뚜렷하게 보이는 경향을 보였다. 이는 생성형 AI 챗봇이 도덕적 자기 이해를 탐색하는 비계로 기능할 가능성을 시사한다.
