This study aims to examine the relationship between humans and artificial intelligence in the age of AI and to explore the practical implications for moral education based on Aristotle’s virtue ethics. From an Aristotelian perspective, genuine friendship is a relationship that fosters mutual excellence and moral growth. In contrast, generative AI has inherent limitations, including hallucinations, lack of responsibility, and the outsourcing of thinking, stemming from sycophantic tendencies and alignment problems. As individuals become accustomed to comfortable interactions with AI, their moral capacity to endure mutual vulnerability with others may weaken, placing civic friendship at risk of erosion. Accordingly, this study argues that moral education in the age of AI should cultivate practical judgment grounded in practical wisdom, promote personal interactions that embrace mutual vulnerability, and foster civic friendship.

본 연구는 인공지능 시대에 인간과 AI의 관계를 성찰하고, 아리스토텔레스의 덕 윤리를 바탕으로 도덕교육의 실천적 과제를 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 아리스토텔레스의 관점에서 진정한 우정은 상호 간의 탁월성과 도덕적 성장을 촉진하는 관계이다. 반면 생성형 AI는 아첨 경향성과 정렬 문제로 인해 할루시네이션, 책임성 결여, 사유의 외주화라는 한계를 지닌다. AI와의 안락한 상호작용에 익숙해질수록 타자와의 상호적 취약성을 견디는 도덕적 역량은 약화되고, 시민적 우정 또한 훼손될 위험이 있다. 이에 본 연구는 AI 시대 도덕교육이 실천적 지혜에 기반한 판단력과 인격적 상호작용, 시민적 우정을 함양하는 방향으로 이루어져야 함을 제안하였다.
