This study aims to examine the usage patterns of disposable items in beauty shops to strengthen hygiene management, analyze the resulting environmental and economic issues, and suggest directions for sustainable operation. A environmental literature review examining the hygienic necessity and limitations of disposable item usage revealed that while disposable items contribute to preventing cross-contamination and standardizing hygiene, they simultaneously cause problems such as increased waste, resource waste, and higher operating costs. Accordingly, it is necessary to implement the introduction of eco-friendly materials, the use of reusable tools, and the improvement of environmental awareness among operators and consumers in parallel. This study is significant in that it provides foundational data for balancing hygiene and sustainability.
