This study investigates the paradigmatic shift in the leadership of Korean mega-churches by focusing on Saarang Community Church, a symbolic case of pastoral succession in South Korea, through a comparative analysis of the sermon styles and pastoral philosophies of Rev. Han-Heum Oak and Rev. Jung-Hyun Oh. The chronological scope of this research spans from the late 1990s, when Rev. Oak’s ministry reached maturity, through the leadership transition in 2003, up to 2026, a period marked by the stabilization and ongoing social discussions of Rev. Oh’s ministry. Methodologically, this paper employs both literature reviews and a comparative analysis of actual sermon data based on shared biblical texts (Ephesians, Matthew, and Romans). The findings demonstrate that the leadership transition at Saarang Community Church represents a necessary evolutionary paradigm of the Korean church—moving from a modern stage of "internal consolidation" to a postmodern stage of "global expansion". First, regarding sermon styles and rhetorical features, Rev. Oak excelled in prophetic proclamation centered on Logos. Grounded in a Reformed view of Scripture, his inductive expository sermons sharply dissected the conscience and sinfulness of the congregation. Conversely, Rev. Oh excels in motivation driven by Pathos. Capturing contemporary sensibilities and trends, he visualizes abstract principles through vivid visionary keywords, healing modern anxieties, and uniting congregational energy. Second, in terms of pastoral philosophy and methodology, Rev. Oak dedicated his pastoral energy to disciple-making training based on his "one-person" philosophy, empowering the laity as active agents of ministry. This approach solidified the qualitative inner strength of the church and exemplified ethical purity, though it left challenges regarding mass accessibility and institutional bureaucratization. On the other hand, Rev. Oh expanded this heritage into global mission networks and "the church as a spiritual public good". He maximized execution through large-scale mobilization like Special Early Morning Revival Meetings, yet his approach faced criticisms of secular materialism and exposed vulnerabilities concerning the moral and ethical risks of leadership. In conclusion, the two leadership models form a complementary relationship, performing the church’s dual missions of "preserving the essence" and "expanding the influence" through different generational and cultural idioms. As a future trajectory for Saarang Community Church and the broader Korean church, this study suggests the critical importance of a paradigmatic connection that organically integrates the predecessor's theological strictness (Logos) with the successor's cultural communication skills (Pathos). Ultimately, it emphasizes that such a transition requires inheriting an enduring pastoral integrity, a humble public responsibility, and ethical transparency that matches the church's scale.

본 연구는 한국 대형교회의 대표적인 리더십 승계 사례인 사랑의교회를 중심으로, 1대 옥한흠 목사와 2대 오정현 목사의 설교 스타일 및 목회 철학을 비교 분석하여 한국 개신교 리더십의 패러다임적 변화를 규명하고자 하였다. 연구의 시기적 범위는 옥한흠 목사의 사역 성숙기인 1990년대 후반부터 리더십 승계(2003년)를 거쳐 오정현 목사의 사역이 안정화된 2026년 현재까지를 포괄하며, 문헌 조사와 실제 주요 본문(에베소서, 마태복음, 로마서)에 대한 두 목회자의 설교 데이터 비교 분석을 병행하였다. 연구 결과, 두 리더십의 전환은 단순한 인물 교체를 넘어 한국 교회가 근대적 '내실화' 단계에서 글로벌적 '확장성' 단계로 이행하는 과정에서 나타난 필연적인 패러다임 변화임을 확인하였다. 첫째, 설교 스타일과 수사학적 측면에서 옥한흠 목사는 개혁주의 성경관에 기반한 귀납적 강해설교를 통해 청중의 양심과 죄성을 해부하는 '로고스(Logos)' 중심의 선지자적 선포에 탁월했다. 반면, 오정현 목사는 현대적 감수성과 시대적 트렌드를 포착하여 선명한 시각적 키워드로 비전을 제시하고, 현대인의 상처를 치유하며 공동체의 에너지를 결집시키는 '파토스(Pathos)' 중심의 동기부여에 강점을 보였다. 둘째, 목회 철학과 방법론 측면에서 옥한흠 목사는 '한 사람' 철학에 기반하여 평신도를 주체적인 사역자로 세우는 제자훈련에 집중함으로써 교회의 질적 내실을 다지고 윤리적 청빈함을 실천했다. 그러나 대중성 확보의 한계와 시스템의 관료화라는 과제를 남겼다. 반면 오정현 목사는 이 를 글로벌 선교 네트워크와 '영적 공공재로서의 교회'라는 적극적인 대사회적·문화적 영향력 확장으로 변용시켰으며, 대형 집회(특별새벽부흥회)를 통해 강력한 실행력을 발휘했으나, 외형적 물량주의라는 비판과 리더십의 도덕적·윤리적 리스크를 노출시키는 취약성을 보였다. 결론적으로 두 리더십은 '본질 수호'와 '영향력 확장'이라는 교회의 두 가지 사명을 각기 다른시대적 문법으로 수행해 온 상호보완적 관계이다. 본 연구는 향후 사랑의교회와 한국교회가 나아갈 미래적 과제로, 전임자의 복음적 엄밀성(로고스)과 후임자의 문화적 소통력(파토스)을 유기적으로 통합하는 패러다임적 연결의 중요성을 제언하며, 교회의 규모에 걸맞은 겸손한 공공성과 인격적 투명성의 계승이 필요함을 강조한다.
