This study qualitatively explored how pre-service elementary teachers’ physical education (PE) teaching performance competence is formed and reconstructed through field-based experiences in operating a Neulbom School physical activity program. The participants were four pre-service elementary teachers and forty elementary school students involved in the program. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, reflective journals, and field notes during the implementation of a community-linked Neulbom PE program featuring sport stacking and the Tower of Hanoi activities. The data were analyzed using inductive categorical analysis. The findings revealed four domains of teaching performance competence: the development of instructional design judgment, growth in participation regulation competence, reconstruction of safety professionalism awareness, and transformation in feedback practices. The pre-service teachers moved beyond a plan-centered view of teaching and developed the ability to adjust lessons flexibly according to classroom situations. Through experiencing diverse student participation patterns, they redefined instructional goals from skill performance to sustaining participation and promoting interaction. They also came to recognize safety as a core structural element of instruction and reorganized activity design with a safety-centered perspective. Furthermore, feedback was reconceptualized from skill correction to a relational practice that facilitates participation. These results indicate that pre-service teachers’ PE teaching performance competence develops through a cyclical process of field-based incidents → perceptual change → practical reconstruction. The study suggests that Neulbom School PE programs can function as practice-based teacher education settings and highlights the need to expand field-based instructional experiences and to establish a teacher education framework centered on teaching performance competence.

본 연구는 늘봄학교 체육 프로그램 운영 과정에 참여한 초등 예비교사 4명과 초등학생 40명을 연구 참여자로하여, 예비교사의 체육 수업 실행 역량이 현장 경험 속에서 어떠한 과정으로 형성·재구성되는지를 질적으로 탐색하였다. 지역사회 연계 늘봄 체육 프로그램(스포츠스태킹·하노이탑)을 적용하는 과정에서 심층면담, 참여관찰, 수업 소감문, 현장일지 등의 자료를 수집하였고, 귀납적 범주분석으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 예비교사의 실행역량은 수업 설계 판단 역량 형성, 참여 조절 역량 성장, 안전 전문성 인식 재구성, 피드백 실천 변화의 4가지영역으로 도출되었다. 예비교사들은 계획 중심 수업관에서 벗어나 현장 상황에 따라 수업을 조정하는 판단 능력을 형성하였으며, 학생 참여의 다양성을 경험하며 수업 목표를 참여 지속과 상호작용 촉진 중심으로 재구성하였다. 또한 안전을 수업의 핵심 구조로 인식하고 활동 설계를 안전 중심으로 재조정하였으며, 피드백을 기능 교정이 아닌 관계 기반 참여 촉진 행위로 재인식하였다. 이러한 결과는 예비교사의 체육 수업 실행 역량이 ‘현장 사건 경험 → 인식 변화 → 실천 재구성’의 순환 과정 속에서 형성됨을 보여준다. 본 연구는 늘봄학교 체육 프로그램이 예비교사에게 실천 기반 교사교육의 장으로 기능할 수 있음을 시사하며, 예비교사 교육과정에서 현장 기반수업 실행 경험 확대와 실행 역량 중심 교사교육 체계 구축의 필요성을 제기한다.
