This study analyzes the cultural-political implications of two recent dramas dealing with romantic relationships between Korean and Japanese—Eye Love You and Romantic Anonymous—by focusing on “urban Asianism” and “geographical imagination.” Eye Love You and Romantic Anonymous are texts that imagine a new form of intimacy transcending national boundaries through love stories between an external other—a Korean—and an internal other—a Japanese person. Accordingly, this study first provides an overview of the characteristics of the worldview presented in the two dramas in relation to Japan’s third and fourth waves of the ‘Hallyu’ and trends in the global cultural environment, focusing on the new forms of relationship-building expressed through the motifs of coming out and disability. Furthermore, by examining how the openness of global connectivity depicted in these two dramas is subsumed into a hierarchical geography, this study sought to shed light on the issue of geographical imagination—which serves as both a condition for cultural exchange between Korea and Japan and a means of representing intimacy—thereby broadening the perspective of existing Hallyu research. Through this analysis, the study sought to capture the current dynamics surrounding the Korean Wave in Japan, examine contemporary cross-border intimacy, and foster an understanding of transnational love that resonates within the contradictory imaginaries underpinning these phenomena.

본 연구는 한국인과 일본인 간의 연애를 다룬 최근의 두 드라마, 〈Eye Love You〉와 〈로맨틱 어나니머스〉가 지닌 문화정치적 함의를 ‘도시적 아시아주의’와 ‘지리적 상상력’에 초점을 맞추어 분석하였다. 〈Eye Love You〉와 〈로맨틱 어나니머스〉는 외부에서 온 타자-한국인과 내부의 타자-일본인 간의 사랑 이야기를 통해 네이션의 경계를 넘어서는 새로운 친밀성을 상상하는 텍스트들이다. 이에 본 연구는 우선 두 드라마에 나타난 세계 인식의 특징을 일본의 3차‧4차 한류 및 글로벌 문화환경의 흐름과 관련하여 개관하고, 커밍아웃과 장애의 모티프를 통해 표현되는 새로운 관계 맺기의 양상에 주목했다. 이어 두 드라마가 그려낸 전지구적 연결의 개방성이 위계적 지리 속으로 순치되는 측면을 검토함으로써, 한일 간 문화적 교류의 조건이자 친밀감 재현의 방식이기도 한 지리적 상상력의 문제를 조명하여 기존 한류 연구의 관점을 넓히고자 했다. 이를 통해 현재 일본의 한류를 둘러싼 국면들을 포착하고 국경을 넘는 동시대적 친밀감을 들여다보며, 그 바탕을 이루는 모순된 상상력들 속에서 진동하는 초국적 사랑에 대한 이해를 도모하였다.
