[Purpose] This study aims to examine the overall landscape of information security research, evaluated through the publication and citation performances of journals and institutions, as well as collaboration among institutions and countries using bibliometric analysis. Furthermore, it analyzes the thematic structure and temporal evolution of domestic information security research employing topic modeling. Through this approach, we delineate the trajectory of research conducted by Korean scholars within the global academic environment and provide strategic implications for future research directions. [Methodology]This study investigated 374 international journal articles authored by Korean researchers and indexed in Scopus between 2011 and 2025. Bibliometric analysis and BERTopic topic modeling were systematically applied to analyze temporal changes in publication output, collaboration networks, and thematic structures across three distinct periods. [Findings]Bibliometric findings indicate a steady increase in annual publications, with accelerated growth observed after 2021. The articles were distributed across 168 journals, revealing a gradual diversification from specialized information security journals toward multidisciplinary engineering and applied science venues. Institutional participation expanded significantly from 77 affiliations in 2011–2015 to 279 in 2021–2025, with universities located in the Seoul metropolitan area consistently dominating the output. Inter-institutional collaboration networks grew from a single cluster involving two institutions to seven clusters involving 18 institutions. Similarly, international collaboration broadened over time from a US-centric pattern to encompass Asian, Middle Eastern, and European partners. BERTopic analysis yielded six coherent topics: organizational security awareness and compliance (29.4%), national and defense cyber-physical security (18.2%), AI-based intrusion detection (13.1%), medical and image data encryption (9.9%), smart energy infrastructure security (9.4%), and blockchain-based smart home and IoT security (6.1%). Across the three periods, the proportion of the organizational compliance topic declined, whereas topics focusing on national defense security and AI-based detection exhibited a clear upward trend. [Implications]These findings suggest that Korean information security research has gradually shifted its paradigm from managerial and human factors toward national security responses and AI-driven technical domains. In addition, the results demonstrate that security research has successfully established itself as an independent and robust research agenda across various application domains, including energy infrastructure, medical data, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

[연구목적]본 연구는 계량서지분석을 통해 정보보호 분야 연구 성과의 전반적인 현황, 저널 및 기관의 출판·인용 성과, 기관 간 및 국가 간 협업 관계를 파악하고, 토픽 모델링을 활용하여 국내 정보보호 연구의 주제 구조와 시기별 변화를 분석하고자 한다. 이를 통해 국내 연구자의 정보보호 연구가 글로벌 학술 환경에서 어떠한 방향으로 이루어져 왔는지를 파악하고, 향후 연구 방향에 대한 시사점을 제시하고자 한다. [연구방법]본 연구는 2011년부터 2025년까지 Scopus에 수록된 국내 연구자의 정보보호 관련 국제 학술지 논문 374편을 대상으로, 계량서지분석과 BERTopic 토픽 모델링을 적용하여 출판 성과, 협업 네트워크, 연구 주제 구조의 시기별 변화를 살펴보았다. [연구결과]계량서지분석 결과, 연간 논문 수는 전반적인 증가 추세를 보였으며 2021년 이후 증가폭이 다소 확대되었다. 게재 저널은 168개로 나타났으며, 정보보호 전문 저널 중심에서 다학제적 공학 및 응용과학 분야 저널로 분산되는 경향이 확인되었다. 연구 참여 기관 수는 2011년~2015년 77개에서 2021년~2025년 279개로 증가하였으나 수도권 소재 대학의 비중이 지속적으로 높게 나타났다. 기관 간 협업 네트워크는 2개 기관 1개 클러스터에서 18개 기관 7개 클러스터로 확대되었으며, 국가 간 협업 역시 미국 중심에서 아시아, 중동, 유럽 등으로 다양해지는 경향을 보였다. BERTopic 분석에서는 조직 내 정보보안 인식과 준수(29.4%), 국가·국방 사이버-물리 보안(18.2%), AI 기반 침입 탐지(13.1%), 의료·영상 데이터 암호화(9.9%), 스마트 에너지 인프라 보안(9.4%), 블록체인 기반 스마트 홈·IoT 보안(6.1%)의 6개 토픽이 도출되었다. 시기별로는 조직 내 정보보안 인식과 준수 토픽의 비중이 감소한 반면, 국가·국방 보안 및 AI 기반 탐지 토픽의 비중이 높아지는 경향이 나타났다. [연구의 시사점]이러한 결과는 국내 정보보호 연구의 관심이 관리적·인적 요인 중심에서 국가 안보 대응과 AI 기반 기술 영역으로 이동하고 있음을 시사한다. 아울러 에너지 인프라, 의료 데이터, IoT 등 다양한 응용 영역에서도 보안 연구가 독립적인 연구 영역으로 다루어지고 있음을 확인할 수 있다.
