Background: This study analyzed research trends related to digital and AI education and competencies among dental hygiene students in Korea to identify research trends and suggest future directions for digital and AI-based dental hygiene education. Methods: This study employed a scoping review methodology based on the framework proposed by Arksey and O'Malley. The review was reported in accordance with the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Literature searches were conducted using RISS, KISS, DBpia, and NANET for studies published between January 2017 and March 2026. A total of 28 studies that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed. Results: Among the selected studies, 78.5% were published within the last three years. Survey studies accounted for 15 studies (53.6%), while experimental studies accounted for 13 studies (46.4%). The research themes were categorized into four areas: digital technology awareness and demand, digital competency, effects of digital and AI learning media, and AI ethics. Among these, studies on the effects of digital and AI learning media were the most common, primarily focusing on VR/AR-based simulation education and AIbased learning support tool education. In contrast, studies addressing AI ethics were quantitatively limited. Conclusion: This study confirmed that research on digital and AI -based education in the field of dental hygiene has rapidly increased in recent years. In particular, VR/AR and generative AI-based learning tools were reported to havepositive effects on learning satisfaction and learning immersion. Future studies should investigate the relationship between digital and AI competencies and learning outcomes and support the development of systematic digital and AI -based curricula and AI ethics education in dental hygiene programs.

연구배경 및 목적: 본 연구는 최근 10년간 국내에서 수행된 치위생(학)과 학생 대상 디지털·AI 교육 및 역량 관련 연구 동향을 분석하여 향후 치위생 교육의 디지털·AI 기반 교육 방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 연구방법: 본 연구는 주제범위 문헌고찰(scoping review) 연구로 Arksey와 OʼMalley의 방법론에 따라 수행하였으며, PRISMA-ScR 지침을 참고하여 보고하였다. 문헌검색은 RISS, KISS, DBPIApia, NANET을 이용하여 2017년 1 월부터 2026년 3월까지 발표된 국내 논문을 대상으로 실시하였으며, 최종적으로 선정 기준에 부합한 28편의 문헌을 분석하였다. 연구결과: 분석 문헌의 78.5%는 최근 3년 이내에 발표되었으며, 연구 설계는 조사연구 15편(53.6%), 실험연구13편(46.4%)이었다. 연구 주제는 디지털 기술 인식 및 요구, 디지털 역량, 디지털·AI 학습매체 활용 효과, 인공지능 윤리의 네 가지 범주로 분류되었다. 이 중 디지털·AI 학습매체 활용 효과를 다룬 연구가 가장 많았으며, VR·AR 기반 시뮬레이션 교육과 AI 기반 학습지원 도구 활용 교육이 주로 수행되었다. 반면, 인공지능 윤리를다룬 연구는 양적으로 매우 제한적이었다. 결론: 본 연구는 최근 국내 치위생 교육 분야에서 디지털·AI 기반 교육 연구가 빠르게 증가하고 있음을 확인하였다. 특히 VR·AR 및 생성형 AI 기반 학습도구는 학습만족도와 학습몰입도 향상에 긍정적인 효과를 보였다. 향후 치위생 교육에서는 디지털·AI 활용 역량과 학습성과 간의 관련성을 규명하는 연구와 함께 체계적인 디지털·AI 기반 교육과정 개발 및 윤리교육 연구가 지속적으로 수행될 필요가 있다.
