This study develops a real-time ground coordinate acquisition system using a Laser Range Finder (LRF) mounted on an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). To meet the requirements for precision and rapid response in surveillance, search and rescue, and disaster management, we implemented an integrated system comprising UAV hardware, coordinate calculation software, and a Ground Control Station (GCS) user interface. The system computes target locations in real-time by fusing sensor data from the LRF and UAV telemetry. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system maintains consistent coordinate accuracy within approximately 1.6m (mean) under static target conditions, across flight altitude variations of 10–50m and horizontal distance variations of 5–15m. This technology is expected to expand the operational scope of UAVs in both civilian and military sectors and enhance the technical competitiveness of domestic UAV-based positioning systems.
