On reward-based crowdfunding platforms, information asymmetry and attention scarcity represent pervasive frictions between backers and creators. This study operationalizes Kickstarter's editorial recommendation as the treatment variable and draws on a sample of 188,406 completed projects retrieved and curated from Webrobots.io. By jointly applying propensity score matching, inverse probability weighting, and doubly robust estimation, this study establishes the causal effect of editorial recommendation on crowdfunding performance. The results show that, after controlling for selection bias, editorial recommendation not only exerts a significant positive impact the probability of project success but also significantly increases the total funding amount and the number of backers. These findings provide large-sample causal evidence for platform governance and signaling theory, and also offer practical implications for crowdfunding entrepreneurs and platform operators.

보상형 크라우드펀딩 플랫폼에서는 후원자와 창작자 사이에 정보 비대칭과 주의 희소성 문제가 일반적으로 존재한다. 본 연구는 Kickstarter의 편집자 추천을 처치변수로 설정하고, Webrobots.io를 통해 수집 및 정제한 188,406 개의 종료 프로젝트 데이터를 활용하여, 성향점수매칭, 역확률가중치, 이중강건추정 방법을 종합적으로 적용함으로써 편집자 추천이 크라우드펀딩 성과에 미치는 인과적 영향을 식별하였다. 분석 결과, 선택편의를 통제한 후에도 편집자 추천은 프로젝트의 성공확률을 유의하게 높일 뿐만 아니라, 모금액과 후원자 수 역시 유의하게 증가시키는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 플랫폼 거버넌스와 신호 이론에 대규모 표본에 기반한 인과적 증거를 제공하며, 크라우드펀딩 창업자와 플랫폼 운영자에게도 실무적 시사점을 제공한다.
