This study examined the mediating effect of the perception of patient health information protection on the relationship between ethical nursing competence and patient health information protection practice among 168 nursing students from three universities. Data were analyzed using SPSS 29.0 and Baron and Kenny's mediation analysis. Patient health information protection perception showed a partial mediating effect between ethical nursing competence and protection practice (Z=3.94, p<.001). Higher ethical nursing competence (β=.26, p<.001) and protection perception (β=.36, p<.001) were associated with higher levels of protection practice, explaining 28% of the variance. These findings suggest that enhancing both ethical nursing competence and protection perception is important for improving patient health information protection practice among nursing students.

본 연구는 간호대학생을 대상으로 윤리적 간호역량과 의료정보보호 실천과의 관계에서 의료정보보호 인식의 매개효과를 규명하여, 이들의 의료정보보호 실천 수준을 향상시키기 위한 서술적 조사연구이다. 연구대상자는 J도와 G광역시에 소재한 3개의 대학의 간호대학생 168명이며, 자료 분석은 기술통계, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson 상관분석 및 Baron과 Kenny의 3단계 매개 회귀분석을 이용하고, Sobel test로 검증하였다. 의료정보보호 인식은 윤리적 간호역량과 의료정보보호 실천 사이에서 부분 매개효과를 나타냈으며(Z=3.94, p<.001), 윤리적 간호역량(β=.26, p<.001)과 의료정보보호 인식(β=.36, p<.001)) 수준이 높을수록 의료정보보호 실천 수준이 높아지며, 의료정보보호 실천을 설명하는 설명력(R2)은 28%이었다. 간호대학생의 의료정보보호 실천 수준을 향상시키기 위해서는 윤리적 간호역량 뿐 아니라 의료정보보호 인식 수준을 동시에 증진 시킬 필요가 있음을 시사한다.
