This study analyzed the necessity, significance, and challenges of integration of early childhood education and child care as perceived by kindergarten and daycare center teachers, the direct stakeholders, to promote early childhood education integration. The study subjects were 2,096 young children's teachers working at kindergartens and child care centers in Gyeongnam Province. A questionnaire was used to identify the necessity, significance, and challenges related to integration of early childhood education and child care. Data were analyzed using frequency analysis and chi-square tests. The results of this study revealed that, first, while young children's teachers generally recognized the need for integration of early childhood education and child care, kindergarten teachers were more likely to perceive it as unnecessary. Second, young children's teachers demonstrated a high level of awareness of the integration of early childhood education and child care policy. The conclusions of this study are as follows: First, it is necessary to understand the level of need for integration of early childhood education and child care as perceived by early childhood educators before planning and implementing integration of early childhood education and child care policies. Second, it is necessary to understand the meaning of integration of early childhood education and child care as perceived by early childhood educators. Third, it is also important to sequentially implement the challenges identified by early childhood educators for preschool integration.

유보통합을 추진해나가기 위해 직접적인 이해당사자인 유치원과 어린이집 교직원이 생각하는 유보통합의 필요성과 의미, 해결과제를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 대상은 경남 소재 유치원과 어린이집에 재직중인 영유아교사 2,096명이었다. 본 연구에서는 유보통합과 관련한 필요성과 의미, 해결과제를 파악하기 위해 설문을 통한 조사를 실시하였다. 자료분석은 빈도분석과 카이자승 검증으로 수행되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 첫째, 어린이집 교직원은 대체로 유보통합이 필요하다는 인식이 높게 나타난 반면, 유치원 교원은 유보통합이 필요하지 않다는 인식이 더 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 영유아교원은 유보통합 정책에 대해 높은 인식 정도를 보여주고 있었다. 본 연구의 결론은 첫째, 영유아교원이 인식한 유보통합의 필요성 정도를 파악하여 유보통합 정책을 계획하고 실행해야 한다. 둘째, 영유아교원이 인식하는 유보통합의 의미를 짚어야 한다. 셋째, 영유아교원이 인식한 유보통합의 해결과제를 순서대로 실행해나가는 것도 중요하다.
