This study seeks to explore strategies for developing effective and easily understandable information design tailored to disaster-vulnerable groups such as older adults in wildfire situations. In particular, the focus is on communication design that reflects the characteristics of older adults, whose visual and auditory cognitive abilities decline and whose physical response speed slows with age. The research analyzes the major difficulties experienced by older adults during wildfires—delays in information recognition, confusing message structures, and complex visual materials that are hard to interpret—while drawing on actual wildfire cases and interview surveys with older adults to specify these problems. Based on these findings, design principles were derived to enhance the timeliness, clarity, and accessibility of information delivery. The study highlights the importance of employing multimodal communication methods such as visual elements (color contrast, larger font sizes, use of pictograms), auditory alerts (simple, command-centered messages), and improved accessibility of digital devices (UI/UX enhancements). Ultimately, this study underscores that disaster information design should not be limited to mere transmission, but should focus on ensuring user-centered comprehensibility and promoting appropriate actions.

이 연구는 산불 재난 상황에서 고령자와 같은 재난 약자에게 효과적이고 이해하기 쉬운 정보 전달 디자인을 구축하기 위한 방안을 모색하고자 한다. 특히, 시각적, 청각적 인지 능력이 낮아지고 신체적 반응 속도가 늦어지는 고령자의 특성을 반영한 커뮤니케이션 디자인이 중심이다. 연구는 산불 발생 시 고령자가 겪는 주요 어려움-정보 인식의 지연, 혼란스러운 메시지 구조, 이해하기 어려운 시각 자료 등을 분석하며, 실제 산불 사례와 고령자 인터뷰 조사를 통해 문제점을 구체화하였다. 이를 바탕으로 정보 전달의 시의성, 명료성, 접근성을 높이기 위한 디자인 원칙을 도출하였다. 또한 시각적 요소(컬러대비, 글자 크기, 픽토그램 활용), 음성 알림(단순 명령어 중심의 메시지), 디지털 장치의 접근성 향상(UI/UX개선)과 같은 다감각적 전달 수단의 병행 사용이 중요하다는 점을 강조한다. 본 연구는 재난 정보 디자인이 단순한 전달이 아닌, 사용자 중심의 이해 가능성 확보와 행동 유도에 초점을 맞춰야 한다는 것을 강조하여, 향후 산불뿐 아니라 다양한 재난 유형에도 적용 가능한 포괄적 정보 디자인 가이드라인 개발의 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있다.
