This study examines changes in international research on breaking from 2000 to 2026 by analyzing 311 academic papers collected from Google Scholar and Scopus using text-mining techniques, including TF-IDF and LDA topic modeling. The results indicate that the first period (2000–2017), prior to Olympic adoption, was characterized by research trends related to subcultural resistance, transnational diffusion, and the overcoming of social constraints, with core keywords such as hip-hop, culture, planet, and identity. The second period (2018–2026) shows a diversification of research topics, with keywords such as gold, olympic, performance, injury, gender, and experience. Studies increasingly address multiple dimensions of breaking, including embodied experience, gender relations, physical risk and recovery, social integration, and historical contexts. This study quantitatively presents the structural transformation of international academic discourse on breaking over a 25-year period and provides foundational data for future research.

본 연구는 2000년부터 2026년까지 국외 브레이킹 연구의 변화를 살펴보기 위해 구글 스칼라와 스코퍼스에서 수집된 311편의 학술 논문을 대상으로 TF-IDF와 LDA 토픽모델링을 포함한 텍스트마이닝 기법을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 1기(2000–2017)는 올림픽 채택 이전 시기로 힙합, 문화, 정체성 등의 키워드를 중심으로 하위문화로서의 저항성과 국제적 확산, 사회적 제약 극복과 관련된 연구 경향이 나타났다. 2기(2018–2026)는 올림픽 채택 이후 시기로 gold, olympic, performance, injury, gender, experience 등의 키워드가 등장하며 연구 주제가 보다 다양하게 분화된 양상을 보였다. 최근 연구는 단순한 스포츠 관점에 한정되기보다 수행자의 신체적 경험, 젠더 관계, 신체적 위험과 회복, 사회적 통합, 역사적 맥락 등 다양한 차원이 함께 다루어지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 지난 25년간 국외 브레이킹 학술 담론의 구조적 변화를 정량적으로 제시하고 향후 브레이킹 연구를 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는 데 의의를 지닌다.
