This study examines the occupational status and professionalization level of dance therapy within South Korea’s Arts & Health policy. Utilizing a narrative literature review, policy document analysis, and the theory of professions, the findings reveal that the current policy remains transitional, lacking clear jurisdiction for specific therapeutic modalities. Compared to other arts therapies, dance therapy exhibits lower policy visibility, remaining a "partially institutionalized profession" with insufficient institutional approval despite its academic legitimacy. Given its unique value as a body-based intervention for vulnerable populations, dance therapy must establish an independent professional status within the public health system. Ultimately, its institutional expansion requires proactive strategies to build professional jurisdiction, including integrating qualification systems, standardizing curricula, and ensuring independent specification in policy discourse.

본 연구는 한국 Arts & Health 정책 맥락에서 무용치료의 직업적 위치와 전문직화 수준을 진단하고, 제도적 확장 가능성을 탐색하였다. 서사적 문헌고찰과 정책 문헌 분석에 전문직 이론을 적용한 결과, 한국의 관련 정책은 예술의 치유적 기능을 포괄적으로 수용할 뿐 세부 직역의 관할권을 명확히 구조화하지 못한 과도기적 상태로 확인되었다. 특히 무용치료는 타 예술치료에 비해 정책적 가시성이 낮아 학문적 정당성 확보에도 불구하고 제도적 승인이 미비한 ‘부분적 제도화(partially institutionalized profession)’ 단계에 머물러 있다. 신체 기반 중재로서 사회적 취약계층에 독보적 가치를 지닌 무용치료가 공공보건 체계 내 독자적 전문직으로 확립되기 위해서는 다원화된 자격 체계 통합, 교육과정 표준화, 정책 내 독립적 명시 등 능동적인 관할권 구축 전략이 필수적임을 시사한다.
