This study discusses the placeness perceived and recognized by audiences through the MR (Mixed Reality) performance of choreographer Song Joowon. This research examines Song Joo-won’s MR performance , which traverses between the virtual and the real, as the subject of discussion. The discussion explores the modes of perception formed within virtual space through the perceptual, cognitive, and emotional processes by which placeness is recognized. Furthermore, the VR experience within MR performance expands the concept of place in the performing arts beyond the placeness recognized by audience, while establishing entirely different relational dynamics through the medium of VR. Consequently, MR performance not only presents the possibility of strengthening cultural identity by differentiating itself from conventional performance formats, but also demonstrates the potential for forming new communities and solidarity that transcend the boundaries of time and space.

본 연구는 안무가 송주원의 MR 공연 작품을 통해 관객이 지각 반응하여 인지하는 장소성에 관한 논의이다. 가상의 VR 영상과 안무가가 제안하는 실제의 상황이 교차되는 송주원의 MR 공연 작품 <자리와 주름:아키타입-혼합현실 퍼포먼스>를 논의의 대상으로 진행하였다. 논의는 안무가가 제안하는 작업에서 인지되는 지각적, 인지적, 정서적 처리 과정을 통해 관객이 체험 가능한 장소성에 집중하였다. 이에 작품에서 관객이 인지한 장소성은 공연예술의 새로운 장소의 개념을 확장시켰고, VR이라는 매체를 통해 전혀 다른 관계성을 확보하였다. 이에 MR공연은 기존의 전통적인 공연 방식과의 다름을 통해 문화적 정체성을 강화하는 가능성을 제시하였을 뿐만 아니라 시공간을 넘나들면서 새로운 공동체의 형성과 연대의 가능성을 보여주었다.
