This study explores the similarities between the emotions of bipolar disorder and the pathological phenomena of contemporary Korean society, and proposes a method of expressing these through sculptural language. The researcher observed that phenomena such as helplessness, violence, and isolation emerging when the social organism falls into a state of disintegration of norms and values resemble the emotional instability caused by neurotransmitter imbalances in individuals. Based on this observation, the study compares the similarities between biological organisms and social organisms, and applies anomie theory to analyze the relationship between pathological phenomena in Korean society and the symptoms of bipolar disorder. In addition, the study analyzes the symbolism of the hare embodied in the researcher’s works and utilizes it as a metaphorical device for pathological emotions and social chaos. Through artworks developed from these considerations, the study visualizes the complex relationship between emotions and social structures, examining the similarities between individual inner experiences and social structures. Furthermore, it expects that art can serve as a tool to interpret and reconstruct the structure of emotions and social conditions.

본 연구는 양극성 장애의 정서와 현대 한국 사회의 병리적 현상 간의 유사성을 탐구하며, 이를 조형 언어로 표현하는 방안을 제시한다. 연구자는 사회 유기체가 규범과 가치의 해체 상태에 빠졌을 때 나타나는 무기력, 폭력성, 고립 등의 현상에서 개인의 신경전달물질 불균형으로 인한 감정적 불안정성과 비슷한 모습을 보았다. 이러한 인식을 바탕으로 생물 유기체와 사회 유기체의 유사성을 비교하고, 아노미 이론을 적용하여 한국 사회의 병리적 현상과 양극성 장애의 증상을 연결지어 분석한다. 또한, 연구자가 작품에 형상화한 산토끼의 상징성을 분석하고, 이를 병리적 감정과 사회적 혼란의 은유적 장치로 활용한다. 그리고 위의 내용을 바탕으로 진행된 연구자의 작업을 통해 감정과 사회 구조 간의 복잡한 관계를 형상화하고, 개인의 내면적 경험과 사회 구조의 유사성을 살펴본다. 더불어 예술이 감정의 구조와 사회적 조건을 해석하고 재구성하는 도구로서 역할을 할 수 있기를 기대한다.
