This study aims to explore the decentralized tendencies of modern ceramics through the Gilles Deleuze's philosophy. Ceramics, an art form with a long history, adheres to traditions that establish certain rules and foundations. These traditions can sometimes foster a passive attitude towards new methods and expressions, resulting in a form of self-ghettoization from the dynamic flow of modern art, which is characterized by uncertainty, indeterminacy, non-linearity, and decentralization. Therefore, it is crucial to establish a clear rationale for this change in attitude. Deleuze's rhizomatic thinking offers a fresh perspective for conceiving and attempting creative work in ceramics. Contemporary ceramics explores new possibilities within contemporary art, considering aspects such as medium, size, shape, color, composition, and structure. Art inherently possesses the capacity for change and creation, reflecting and expressing the human spirit, which fluidly transforms alongside it. Deleuze's philosophy addresses discourses in contemporary ceramics through concepts of Rhizome, Simulacre, and the notion of ‘Pli,’ which are relevant to the context of ceramics. These philosophical insights will transcend the metaphysical realm, providing meaningful direction for understanding the value and significance of ceramic works.

본 연구는 질 들뢰즈의 철학을 통해 현대도예의 탈중심적 경향에 대해 탐구하는데 그 목적이 있다. 도예는 오랜 역사를 지닌 예술로서 전통에 따른 규율이 형성되어 있는 장르적인 특성을 지닌다. 이러한 규칙과 기반은 새로운 방법과 표현에 대한 소극적인 태도로 이어지기도 한다. 이러한 태도는 불확정성, 비결정성, 비선형성, 탈중심성으로 정의되는 현대예술의 흐름으로부터 스스로를 게토화시키는 결과를 초래하고 있다. 따라서 이러한 태도의 변화를 유도하기 위해서는 변화의 이유를 명확하게 정초할필요성이 요구된다. 들뢰즈의 리좀적 사유는 도자라는 예술에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 창의적인 작업을구상하고 시도하는 데 새로운 시각을 부여해줄 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 현대도예는 작품의 매체, 크기, 형태, 색채, 구성 및 구조 등 그 형식과 내용이 현대예술의 맥락에서새로운 가능성을 모색하고 있다. 예술은 그 본질에 있어서 언제나 변화와 생성의 운동성을 지니고 있다. 인간의 정신이 구현되고 표현된다는 점에서 예술은 인간의 정신의 변화와 함께 유동적으로 변모해왔다. 들뢰즈의 철학은 유동성과 횡적인 차원에서의 확장성 그리고 도자의 맥락과 긴밀한 연관성을 지니고 있는‘리좀’,‘시뮬라크르’,‘주름’에 대한 사유를 통해 현대도예를 가로지르고 있는 담론들에대한 적절한 해답을 제공해 준다. 이러한 해답은 형이상학적 수준에 머무는 것이 아니라 작품의 가치와 의미를 독해하는데도 유의미한 방향을 지시해줄 것이다
