This study aims to examine how classification system typologies in arts archives affect usability and, on that basis, to propose a typological model of usability. For the research methodology, three institutions were selected as case study subjects: ARKO Arts Archive (ARKO), the Archives of American Art (AAA), and the Bibliotheque nationale de France (BnF). The comparative analysis was conducted along three axes: classification systems, finding aids, and user services. The analysis revealed that the classification systems of these institutions operate according to distinct organizational logics reflecting particular characteristics of their respective collections. Based on this, three structural factors were identified: consistency of classification logic, establishment of a hierarchical structure, and the level of integration across the three axes. Applying these factors, four usability typologies were identified: the Inconsistent Principles Type, the Underdeveloped Hierarchy Type, the Event-Centered Consistent Type, and the Creator-Centered Consistent Type. The findings also show that the presence of finding aids is a key factor determining the level of usability realized within each typology.

본 연구는 예술기록물 분류체계의 유형이 이용가능성에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 밝히고 이를 바탕으로 이용가능성 유형화 모델을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구방법으로 아르코예술기록원(ARCO)⋅미국미술아카이브(AAA)⋅프랑스국립도서관 공연예술부(BnF)를 연구 대상으로 선정하였다. 분류체계⋅검색도구⋅이용자 서비스의 3축을 기준으로 비교⋅분석하였다. 분석 결과, 3기관의 분류체계는 수집 범위의 특성에 따라 서로 다른 구성 논리를 가진다. 이를 바탕으로 분류 논리의 일관성⋅계층 구조의 확립⋅3축 연계의 통합성의 3가지 요인을 도출하였다. 이를 적용한 결과 이용가능성의 유형은 원칙 분산형⋅계층 미확립형⋅사건 맥락 중심 일관형⋅생산자 중심 일관형의 4가지로 구분된다. Finding Aid의 존재 여부가 유형별 이용가능성 실현 수준의 핵심 분기점임을 확인하였다.
