This phenomenological study aimed to explore and describe the meaning of nursing students' volunteer experiences at community child centers. The participants were 16 nursing students from a university located in G City, Gyeongsangbuk-do. Three focus group interviews were conducted by grade level from June to August 2024, and the collected data were analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological method (1978). As a result of the analysis, thirty-one themes were derived, which were integrated into thirteen theme clusters and further classified into five categories: activities to find meaning, a time of sharing and happiness, reward through learning and growth, the difficulties of volunteer work, and lingering regrets and expectations. The findings confirmed that volunteering serves as an important educational experience that fosters moral character and personal growth among nursing students. Furthermore, the study suggests the necessity of systematic institutional support-such as securing sufficient time, providing educational guidance, and improving structural resources-to enhance students' satisfaction with their volunteer experiences. These results emphasize the educational value of volunteering as a key element in shaping nursing students' character and professional development.

본 연구는 간호대학생의 지역아동센터 봉사활동 경험의 의미를 탐색하고 서술하기 위한 현상학적 연구이다. 연구참여자는 경상북도 G시 소재 일 대학의 간호대학생 16명으로, 학년별로 3개의 포커스 그룹을 구성하여 2024년 6월부터 8월까지 초점집단 면담을 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 Colaizzi(1978)의 현상학적 분석방법에 따라 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 간호대학생의 지역아동센터 봉사활동 경험에서 29개의 주제가 도출되었으며, 이는 13개의 주제모음으로 통합되었고 다시 5개의 범주로 유형화되었다. 도출된 5개의 범주는 '의미찾기 활동', '나눔과 행복의 시간', '배움과 성장을 통한 보람', '봉사활동의 어려움 ', '아쉬움과 기대가 남음'이었다. 본 연구 결과 대학생 봉사활동은 인성 함양과 자기 성장을 위한 매우 중요한 교육적 경험임이 확인되었으며, 학생들의 봉사활동 만족도를 높이기 위해 시간 확보, 교육 지원 등 아쉬웠던 부분에 대한 체계적인 지원이 필요함을 시사한다.
