Analysis of the Relationships Among Nursing Students' Knowledge, Images, Ageism, and Geriatric Nursing Practices About the Elderly

- This study aimed to examine the relationship between nursing students' knowledge, image, and discrimination toward the elderly, and their geriatric nursing practice, and to identify factors influencing their geriatric nursing practice. This descriptive study was conducted from September 1 to September 30, 2025, with students enrolled in two nursing departments in cities J, D and C. The collected data were analyzed using IBM SPSS/WIN 25.0, using descriptive statistics, independent-samples t-tests, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis. The results of the study showed that geriatric nursing practice was positively correlated with knowledge of the elderly and negatively correlated with the image of the elderly and ageism. Furthermore, knowledge of the elderly was found to be the most influential factor influencing nursing students' geriatric nursing practice, explaining 10.1% of the variance. In conclusion, the researchers suggest that to improve nursing students' geriatric nursing practice, it is necessary to strengthen education focused on theory and practice related to the elderly, and to implement awareness-raising and participatory education to reduce ageism.

- 본 연구는 간호대학생의 노인에 대한 지식, 이미지, 차별주의 및 노인간호실천간의 관계를 확인해보고 간호대학생들의 노인간호실천에 미치는 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하고자 시도되었다. 본 연구는 서술적 연구로서 J, D, C시에 소재한 3개의 간호학과에 재학중인 학생들을 대상으로 2025년 9월 1일부터 9월 30일까지 실시되었다. 수집된 데이터는 IBM SPSS/WIN 25.0을 통해 기술통계, 독립표본 T검정, 분산분석, 피어슨 상관계수, 다중회귀분석을 하였다. 연구 결과 노인간호실천은 노인에 대한 지식과 정적 상관관계를 노인에 대한 이미지 및 노인차별주의와는 부적상관관계를 나타내었으며, 간호대학생의 노인간호실천 영향요인은 노인에 대한 지식으로 변수의 설명력은 10.1%로 나타났다. 결론적으로 간호대학생의 노인간호실천 향상을 위해 노인 관련 이론 및 실천 중심 교육을 강화하고, 노인차별주의 감소를 위한 인식개선과 참여형 교육을 병행할 필요가 있다고 본 연구자들은 제언하는 바이다.
