The Seokbosangjeol Eonhaebon, Volume 19 is composed of dialogues, and this means that translation of temporal deixis may vary depending on the utterance contexts. This paper focuses on examining the translation of temporal deixis in the Seokbosangjeol Eonhaebon, Volume 19. The research method uses a literature review and a descriptive approach. The sample is the translation of temporal deictics in the Eonhaebon. The findings indicate that temporal deictics such as 'at that time,' 'then,' and 'now,' were used in the translated text, and they showed a literal translation that was faithful to the meaning of the original. Moreover, among the temporal deictics in the Eonhaebon, 'at that time' accounted for 71.43%, emphasizing the connection with the previous utterances. 'Then' accounted for only 7.14%, indicating a very rare occurrence as a temporal state of past events. And 'now' accounted for 21.43%, showing the function of introducing a new phase in utterance contexts. In this respect, temporal deictics are utilized as grammar devices that connect with previous utterances or function to present new phases in the Seokbosangjeol Eonhaebon, Volume 19. We can conclude that the translation phenomena of temporal deixis will contribute to lexical choices and translation techniques in other genres.

석보상절 권19의 언해본은 붓다와 제자 사이의 대화 구조로 구성되어 있다. 이것은 대화 맥락에 따라 시간 직시어의 번역이 달라질 수 있음을 의미한다. 본 연구는 석보상절 권19의 언해본에 있는 시간 직시어의 번역을 살펴보는데 목적을 두고 있다. 연구 방법은 문헌 연구와 실증 조사 방법이 활용되었고 연구 대상은 법화경의 법사공덕품을 저본으로 한 석보상절 권19의 언해본 속에 있는 시간 직시어 표현들을 대상으로 하고 있다. 언해본에 있는 시간 직시어의 번역을 살펴본 결과 '그때,' '저 때,' '이제'와 같은 시간 직시어들이 발견되었고 이들 번역은 원문에 충실한 번역 형태를 나타내고 있었다. 더군다나 언해본에 있는 시간 직시어들 가운데 '그때'와 같은 시간 직시어는 전체 시간 직시어들 가운데 71.43%를 차지하였고 이것은 이전 발화와 연결을 중시하는 번역을 보여주었다. 한편 '저 때'와 같은 시간 직시어는 7.14%를 차지하였고 이것은 과거 사건에 대한 내용이 드물게 제시되고 있음을 의미한다. 마지막으로 '이제'라는 시간 직시어는 21.43%를 차지하여 발화 전개에 새로운 국면을 제시하는 기능을 수행하였다. 이처럼 석보상절 권19의 언해본에는 이전 발화와 연결을 포함하여 발화 전개에 새로운 국면을 제시하는 시간 직시어 표현들이 사용되고 있다. 우리는 이러한 분석 결과를 통해 시간 직시어에 대한 번역이 다른 장르의 번역에 있어 어휘 선택과 번역 기법에 기여할 것으로 고려된다.
