Differences in levels of understanding of ballet movements across diverse groups underscore the need for an instructional design that meets the learners’ needs. The objective of this study was to compare the differences in the perception of basic ballet movements among 3 groups and identify the characteristics of each group. We surveyed a total of 134 participants – college dance majors, adult recreational ballet dancers, and ballet instructors further divided into 8 subgroups–in order to compare their perceptions of the basic ballet movements. While all groups perceived the importance of plié, significant differences were found among groups in their perception and awareness of the battement tendu. Findings from the study suggest that ballet instructors should communicate instructional content by considering the background characteristics of the ballet students, repeatedly emphasize the most important basic ballet movements, and share the learning objectives of these movements with the students.

발레 교육에 참여하는 다양한 집단 간 발레 동작에 대한 이해 수준이 다르다. 이에 학습자의 요구에 부합하는 수업 설계의 필요성이 강조되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 무용전공생, 성인발레 취미생, 발레강사를 대상으로 발레 기본 동작에 대한 인식 차이를 비교함으로써 집단별 특성을 확인하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 총 134명의 무용전공 대학생, 성인발레 취미생, 발레강사를 대상으로 주요 발레 기본 동작에 대한 인식을 설문조사하였다. 모든 참여 대상이 플리에에 대한 중요성을 인지하고 있는 반면 바뜨망 텅듀에 대한 인지도와 중요성에 대한 인식은 대상에 따라 큰 차이를 보였다. 특히, 발레강사와 학습자 간의 상반된 인식은 학습 효과를 저해할 가능성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 발레강사는 교육 대상의 특징과 배경을 고려하여 수업의 내용을 명확하게 전달함으로써 주요 발레 기본 동작의 중요도를 반복적으로 인지시키고 각 동작의 훈련 목적을 학생과 공유할 필요성이 있음을 시사한다.
