The Transformation of Female Subject in Modern Korean Women’s Novels?Focusing on Kim Chae-won, Oh Jung-hee, Park Wan-seo’s novels

- This article reconstructs a doctoral dissertation that examines the transformation of female subjectivity in modern Korean women’s novels, focusing on the novels of Kim Chae-won, Oh Jung-hee, and Park Wan-seo. The female characters in these works resist patriarchal ideology and explore the possibility of new ethics and norms. This study conceptualizes this process through three stages?Seeing, Becoming, and Speaking?and analyzes the flow of female subject formation and transformation. The feminine writing of the three authors expresses female subjectivity through the language of fantasy, madness, and deviation. Furthermore, the transformation of female subjectivity expands into the re-signification of the eye, body, and world, symbolized respectively by ‘Hwan’, ‘Neokt’, ‘Malttuk’. In particular, the female subject of Becoming in Oh Jung-hee’s novels reveals the most dynamic transformation through the issue of the body. Drawing on Deleuze’s concept of ‘Becoming’ and Braidotti’s ‘Nomadic Subject’ theory, this study analyzes how the female subject in Oh Jung-hee’s novels subverts the body territorialized by phallocentric norms and advances toward ‘Non-human becoming’. The study also examines the common transformative trajectory of the three authors’ female subjects, focusing on how Kim Chae-won’s ‘Seeing’ restores the image of the Other, how Oh Jung-hee’s ‘Becoming’ disrupts boundaries, and how Park Wan-seo’s ‘Speaking’ mourns the Other and resists deprivation. Through this discussion, the study identifies how modern Korean women’s novels restore an uncorrupted form of feminine love and articulate a multilayered and ethical female subjectivity.

- 이 글은 김채원, 오정희, 박완서 소설을 중심으로 한국 현대 여성 소설에 나타난 여성 주체의 변모 양상을 고찰한 박사학위 논문을 재구성한 글이다. 세 작가의 소설에 나타난 여성 주체는 가부장제 이데올로기에 저항하며 새로운 윤리와 규범으로 나아간다. 이 과정을 ‘보기’, ‘되기’, ‘말하기’로 구체화하고, 이를 여성 주체의 변모 양상의 흐름으로 논의한다. 김채원, 오정희, 박완서 소설의 여성적 글쓰기는 환상, 광기, 일탈의 언어를 통해 여성 주체성을 형상화한다. 또한 여성 주체의 변모 양상은 김채원 소설의 ‘환’, 오정희 소설의 ‘넋’, 박완서 소설의 ‘말뚝’이라는 상징을 통해 각각 ‘눈’, ‘몸’, ‘세계’의 재의미화로 확장되어 나타난다. 특히 이 글은 오정희 소설에 나타난 ‘되기’의 여성 주체가 ‘몸’의 문제를 통해 가장 역동적인 변모를 드러낸다는 점에 주목한다. 들뢰즈의 ‘되기’ 개념과 브라이도티의 ‘유목적 주체’ 이론을 적용하여 오정희 소설에 나타난 여성 주체가 남근중심적 규범에 의해 영토화된 신체를 전복하고 ‘비인간-되기’에 이르는 양상을 살펴본다. 또한 김채원의 ‘보기’가 타자의 형상을 복원하는 문제, 오정희의 ‘되기’가 경계를 교란하는 문제, 박완서의 ‘말하기’가 타자를 애도하며 박탈에 맞서는 문제를 중심으로 여성 주체의 면모가 드러나는 흐름을 고찰한다. 이러한 변모 양상에 대한 고찰을 통해 한국 현대 여성 소설에 나타난 여성 주체가 회복하는 훼손되지 않은 여성적 사랑과 그 다층적이고 윤리적인 여성 주체성을 규명한다.

- 한국문예창작학회(The Society of Korean Literary Creative Writing)는 한국 문학의 새 지평을 열기 위해 문예창작 이론과 문예교육 이론을 연구 계발하여 문 예창작의 새로운 방향을 제시하고자 조직한 학술단체입니다. 전국 대학과 대학원 문예창작 관련학과의 전·현직 전임교수·겸임(초빙)교수· 강 사·대학원 재학 이상자 및 문예창작인들이 회원으로 활동하고 있습니다. 학회의 목적에 적극적으로 동의하는 문학 관련 단체나 문학창작 동호인도 준회원으로 참 여하고 있습니다. 연 2회 학회지를 발간해 학문적 기반을 닦고 있으며, 정기적으로 학술 세미나 와 해외 문학 심포지엄 등 학술 발표회를 개최하여 학문적 교류와 토론의 장을 넓히고 있습니다. 한편으로, 문예창작 캠프·문학기행 등의 창작교육 활동과 창작 학습 행사를 수 시로 진행하면서, 창작·창작이론·창작교육에 관한 활동의 범위를 넓히고 있습니다. 별도로, 문예창작 교육을 받은 문예창작학도들의 진로 개발을 위해 '문예교육지도 교사 자격 시험'도 운영하고 있습니다. The Society of Korean Literary Creative Writing is a pure academic association for the literary cretive writing, and was organized on November 11, 2001 for the purpose of presenting the new direction of literary creative writing by studying all the methods to activate and develop the theories of literary creative writing and its education. Our society is composed of professors or ex-professors, some invited professor, lecturers, graduate students of the dept. of literary creative writing as regular members, and the persons interested in our program as associative members. Our society holds an annual academic meeting-- literary symposium, literary creative writing seminar-- and publishes the journal of our society and our members' anthology of literary works. Added to these, our society has already started a new project to open the way for our literary juniors by providing them with a certificate as a leader and holding a forum for literary creative writing.
