일본어 ‘あっさり’에서 유래한 ‘앗사리’ 고찰 ― 1920년대 이후 현재까지의 주요 신문 기사를 중심으로
A Study on ‘Assari(앗사리)’ Derived from the Japanese ‘Assari(あっさり)’ ‒ Focusing on Major Newspaper Articles from the 1920s to the Present 日本語の「あっさり」に由来する「앗사리(assari)」の考察 ―1920年代から現在に至るまでの主要新聞記事を中心に
In this paper, after confirming that the term ‘assari’(앗사리)—derived from the Japanese word ‘assari’(あっさり)—is used to mean refreshingly, coolly, without regret, unreservedly, without lingering hard feelings, cleanly, frankly, completely, or rather, I have clearly established the following facts. First, while previous studies have pointed out that the term ‘assari’ first appeared in News article in 1926, my investigation revealed that its first appearance was actually in 1929. Second, while previous studies did not discuss the Korean transcription of the Japanese word ‘assari’(あっさり) in detail, this paper confirmed that there are five distinct variations in its Korean spelling: ‘assari’(앗사리), ‘atssari’(앗싸리), ‘assari’(아싸리), ‘assal’(아쌀), and ‘atssal’(앗쌀). Third, while previous studies only briefly mentioned the meaning of ‘assari’(앗사리) as used in Korean society, this study introduces specific categories of semantic usage to clearly identify shifts in its application. Specifically, it points out that while the usage category pertaining to the ‘out of expectation’ has disappeared since the 2000s, it has been replaced by an increasing frequency in categories related to the ‘taste of food or alcohol’ and the ‘emphasis on degree or choice’. Fourth, In terms of usage categories, ‘assari(앗사리)’ adopted the Japanese meanings of ‘assari(あっさり)’—referring to ‘a person’s speech, behavior, or personality’, ‘the taste of food or alcohol’, and ‘unexpected situations.’ However, it did not stop there but added a new category: ‘the emphasis of degree or choice’. This demonstrates that Korean speakers who adopted the Japanese word ‘assari’ did not merely accept it as is, but expanded its usage in the process.
