This study aims to analyze the relationship between infant temperament and maternal parenting behavior, and to examine the sequential mediating effects of maternal grit and fathers’ parenting involvement in this process. The study aims to identify the significance of each influencing variable on maternal parenting behavior and to discuss strategies for providing appropriate support. For this purpose, data from the first-year main survey(2022) of the Korean Early Childhood Education & Care Panel(K-EVEV-P) were utilized. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 21.0, employing frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, and correlation analysis. Additionally, PROCESS Macro Model 6 was used to test the mediating effects. The results were as follows: first, significant correlations were identified among all variables, with the exception of the child’s negative affectivity temperament. Mothers of children with extraverted and orienting/regulatory temperaments exhibited higher levels of grit, which was also associated with increased levels of paternal involvement in child-rearing. Second, an analysis of the sequential mediating effects of maternal grit and paternal involvement on the relationship between infant temperament and maternal parenting behavior revealed several key patterns. Higher levels of extraverted temperament in children and greater maternal grit were associated with increased paternal involvement. Furthermore, maternal parenting behavior was influenced by maternal grit, paternal involvement, and the child's extraverted temperament, in that order. Additionally, a more prominent orienting/regulatory temperament, higher maternal grit, and increased paternal involvement were linked to more positive maternal parenting behaviors. In this context, maternal grit, the child’s orienting/regulatory temperament, and paternal involvement were identified as significant predictors of parenting behavior. In summary, a child's extraverted and orienting/regulatory temperaments exert a direct influence on maternal parenting behavior, while also exerting an indirect influence through the sequential mediation of maternal grit and paternal involvement. This study analyzed the influence of infant temperament on maternal parenting behavior, concluding that psychological support to enhance maternal grit and role enhancement to promote paternal involvement are necessary. Based on these findings, the following recommendations are proposed: First, it is necessary to develop parental education programs specifically for the early stages of infancy. Second, policy support measures should be explored to encourage fathers' active participation in childcare.

본 연구는 영아기 자녀 기질과 어머니의 양육행동 간의 관계를 분석하고, 이 과정에서 어머니 그릿, 아버지 양육참여의 순차적 매개효과를 파악하여 어머니의 양육행동에 영향을 주는 각 변인들의 중요성을 확인하고 이를 지원하는 방안을 논의하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 한국 영유아 교육･보육 패널 1차년도 본조사 데이터(2022)를 활용하였으며, 자료 분석을 위해 SPSS 21.0 버전을 활용하여 빈도분석, 기술통계분석, 상관관계분석을 실시하였고, process macro model 6을 활용하여 매개효과를 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자녀의 기질들 중 부정정서를 제외한 모든 변인에서 유의미한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 외향성 기질과 지향/조절 기질을 가진 자녀의 어머니는 그릿이 높고, 아버지의 양육참여 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 영아의 기질과 어머니 양육행동에서 어머니의 그릿과 아버지의 양육참여의 순차적 매개 효과를 살펴본 결과, 자녀의 기질이 외향적일수록, 어머니의 그릿 수준이 높을수록 아버지의 양육참여 수준은 높은 것으로 나타났고, 어머니 그릿, 아버지 양육참여, 자녀의 외향적 기질 순으로 어머니의 양육행동에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 지향/조절 기질일수록, 어머니의 그릿이 높을수록, 아버지의 양육참여 수준이 높을수록 어머니의 양육행동이 긍정적이었고, 어머니 그릿, 자녀의 지향/조절기질, 아버지 양육참여 순으로 양육행동에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이 같은 결과를 정리해 보면, 자녀의 외향적 기질과 조절/지향 기질은 어머니의 양육행동에 직접적으로 영향을 미치며, 어머니의 그릿, 아버지의 양육참여의 순차적 매개에 의해 간접적인 영향을 미친다. 본 연구는 영아기 자녀의 기질이 어머니의 양육행동에 미치는 영향을 분석하였으며, 그 결과 어머니의 그릿 증진을 위한 심리적 지지와 아버지의 양육참여를 위한 역할제고가 필요하다는 결론을 도출하였다. 이에 따른 후속 제언으로 첫째, 영아초기 부모교육프로그램 개발이 요구된다. 둘째, 아버지의 적극적인 양육참여를 위해 정책적 지원 방안 모색의 필요성을 제언하였다.
