- In 『IROHATANKA』, a sereis of paragraphs consisting of 5ㆍ7 rhythmical 『IROHA』letter, there is a ballad that its theme is quarrels between husbadn and wife. There are divided into two parts, the one part is a song that a husband enumerated his wife's faults, then his mother-in-law criticized it. In the other part, drawed in a picture, they compromised each other with the help of
matchmaker, it is ended with a fesitive scene of the prosperous family.
This type was likely to be very popular, having the 7 examples of Kusazoushi which have almost the same story.
As the years wont by, though this type hadn't been changed to be read.
『IROHATANKA』, introduced now, has a manuscript, but it's very rare song having only one text left. The story was differented from the standard, the wife was more powerful than her husband ignoring housekeeping to enjoy life. The women in Edo changed, just like this with the Kabuki and Kusazoushi.
