This paper reflects on how polycentric mission leadership is both theologically grounded and practically embodied within contemporary multicultural church communities. Through the author's direct experience with the "Multicultural Family Maternal Homeland Visit Camp" (nine years) and the "Maternal Homeland Community Development Project through Multicultural Family Children" (three years), the polyphonic characteristic and the polycephalous leadership structure emerged as the two essential pillars of a polycentric community. Yet a key insight also emerged from the field: these two concepts alone are insufficient. For polycentric communities to function authentically, they must be sustained by a purpose-driven atmosphere of passion and commitment dedicated to discovering and equipping potential leaders for ongoing participation in God's mission. The paper first establishes the theological foundation of polycentric community, grounding it in the mutual indwelling and reciprocal sending of the Triune God, and presents the polyphonic characteristic that affirms the equal value of marginalized voices alongside the polycephalous leadership structure that shares authority. It then demonstrates how this theological vision is embodied in actual communities. When trust-based relationships form the foundation, when marginalized members' voices are genuinely honored, and when authority and responsibility are boldly distributed, multicultural families are transformed from mere recipients of aid into missionary partners, and ultimately into active missional agents. In particular, the Maternal Homeland Visit Camp fostered identity recovery and missional awareness among multicultural family children, while the community development project enabled their leadership throughout design, construction, and operation, positioning them as missional subjects in their own right. Within this purpose-oriented missional atmosphere, ministry for multicultural families matured into mission with them, and ultimately blossomed into mission through them. Discipleship training informed by Clinton's leadership development stages proved an exemplary tool, enabling these children to interpret their entire lives missionally and to mature into seasoned leaders. In conclusion, polycentric missional community transcends mere ministry strategy; it represents the church's inherent theological identity rooted in the image of the Triune God, and constitutes an indispensable practical imperative for the church to fulfill its authentic missional calling in an increasingly pluralized modern society.

본 논문은 다문화 시대를 살아가는 한국 교회가 다중심적 선교 리더십(Polycentric Mission Leadership)을 어떻게 신학적 정체성이자 실천적 과제로 구현할 수 있는지를 성찰한다. 필자는 지난 15년간 '다문화가정 모국방문 캠프'(9년)와 '다문화가정 자녀들을 통한 엄마나라 지역사회개발 프로젝트'(3년)의 코디네이터로 섬기며, 다중심적 공동체를 지탱하는 두 기둥이 다성적(Polyphonic) 특성과 다두적(Polycephalous) 리더십 구조임을 거듭 확인하였다. 그러나 현장의 경험은 이 두 개념을 갖추는 것만으로 공동체가 저절로 선교적으로 작동하지는 않는다는 사실 또한 분명히 보여주었다. 다중심적 공동체가 참되게 살아 움직이려면, 하나님의 선교에 지속적으로 동참할 잠재적 리더를 발굴하고 구비(Equipping)하려는 목적 지향적 열정과 헌신이 반드시 뒷받침되어야 한다. 이러한 문제의식 위에서 본고는 먼저 주변부의 목소리를 동등하게 존중하는 다성적 특성과 권위를 공유하는 다두적 리더십 구조를 다중심적 공동체의 신학적 토대로 제시한다. 이어 이 이론이 현장에서 어떻게 살아 움직였는지를 성찰한다. 신뢰에 기초한 관계가 형성되고, 주변부 구성원의 목소리가 진정으로 경청되며, 권한과 책임이 과감히 분산될 때, 다문화가정은 시혜의 대상에서 선교의 동역자로, 나아가 선교의 주체로 거듭난다. 모국방문캠프는 자녀들의 정체성 회복과 선교적 자각을 이끌었고, 지역사회개발 프로젝트에서는 이들이 설계·시공·운영 전 과정을 주도함으로써 선교적 주체로 세워졌다. 이로써 다문화가정을 '위한(for)' 사역은 '함께(with)'하는 선교로, 마침내 '통한(through)' 선교로 성숙해 갔다. 이 여정에서 클린턴(J. R. Clinton)의 리더십 개발 단계는 자녀들이 자신의 전생애를 선교적으로 해석하도록 돕는 탁월한 도구가 되었다. 결론적으로 다중심적 선교 공동체는 하나의 사역 전략이 아니라, 삼위일체 하나님의 형상에 근거한 교회 본연의 신학적 정체성이며, 다원화된 현대 사회에서 교회가 선교적 소명을 온전히 구현하기 위한 필수 과제이다.
