This study investigates the structural relationship between entrepreneurial intention and entrepreneurial preparation behavior among university students in Korea, drawing on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as the theoretical framework. In addition, it examines how the Dark Triad personality traits?narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy?moderate the transition of entrepreneurial intention into entrepreneurial preparation behavior. Survey data were collected from 318 students enrolled at nine universities participating in the SCOUT entrepreneurship education initiative and analyzed using factor, correlation, and hierarchical regression. Results indicate that the central cognitive components of TPB?entrepreneurial attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control?exert significant positive effects on entrepreneurial intention. Entrepreneurial intention significantly predicts entrepreneurial preparation behavior, supporting TPB applicability in the entrepreneurial context. Narcissism strengthens this intention?behavior link in a curvilinear pattern, while Machiavellianism strengthens it linearly. Psychopathy exerts a significant direct effect on entrepreneurial preparation behavior. These findings suggest that Dark Triad traits may function as conditional adaptive resources in high-risk and uncertain entrepreneurial environments. This study contributes to entrepreneurship research by providing an integrated understanding of their ambivalent roles. Results offer practical implications for behavior-oriented entrepreneurship education and policy.

본 연구는 계획된 행동이론(Theory of Planned Behavior)을 기반으로 국내 대학생의 창업의도와 창업준비행동 간 구조적 관계를 실증적으로 규명하고, 이 과정에서 어둠의 3성격(나르시시즘, 마키아벨리즘, 사이코패시)이 창업의도가 실제 행동으로 전환되는 과정에 미치는 조절적 효과를 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 창업교육 혁신 선도대학(SCOUT)에 소속된 9개 대학 재학생 318명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고, 수집된 자료를 요인분석, 상관분석, 회귀분석으로 검증하였다. 분석 결과, TPB의 주요 인지적 요소인 창업태도, 주관적 규범, 지각된 행동통제는 모두 창업의도에 유의한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고 창업의도는 창업준비행동을 유의미하게 예측하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 TPB가 창업 맥락에서도 타당한 설명력을 지닌 이론적 구조임을 실증적으로 확인해 주는 결과이다. 또한 창업준비행동에 대한 창업의도의 영향은 나르시시즘에 의해 곡선적 형태로 강화되고, 마키아벨리즘에 의해 선형적으로 강화되는 조절효과가 나타났다. 한편 사이코패시는 창업준비행동에 직접적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 이는 어둠의 3성격이 고위험·불확실한 창업 맥락에서 조건부적 적응자원으로 기능할 가능성을 시사한다. 본 연구는 어둠의 3성격에 대한 부정적 영향에 천착했던 기존 성격연구에서 탈피하여 그 양가적 효과를 창업 맥락에서 통합적으로 고찰함으로써 기존 창업연구를 확장했다는 학문적 의의를 지닌다. 아울러 창업의도와 창업준비행동 간 연결성을 재확인하여, 창업교육 및 정책 설계에 실질적 시사점을 제공한다.
