This study analyzes how the tariff war under the second Trump administration is represented in Korean news discourse and examines its implications for Korea’s trade strategy. To this end, 7,297 news articles published in four major Korean newspapers between January 20, 2025, and February 17, 2026, were collected and analyzed using text network analysis and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling. The results show that the news discourse is largely structured around keywords such as “China,” “negotiation,” “Korea,” and “trade,” indicating that the tariff war has been framed within the context of U.S.–China conflict while simultaneously emphasizing its implications for Korea’s economy. Topic modeling identified six major themes: financial market reactions and macroeconomic outlook, trade negotiations and diplomatic coordination, corporate strategies and industrial competition, summit diplomacy and retaliatory measures, tariff issues centered on key industries, and international order and economic security. These findings suggest that the tariff war is perceived as a multidimensional issue that combines political events, market responses, industrial restructuring, and shifts in the international economic order. In particular, the analysis indicates potential impacts on Korea’s key export industries—such as automobiles, semiconductors, and steel—as well as on global supply chain structures. This implies that Korea’s trade strategy needs to be reconsidered from a broader perspective that incorporates supply chain stability and economic security.

본 연구는 트럼프 2기 행정부의 관세전쟁이 국내 언론 담론에서 어떻게 재현되고 있으며, 이러한 담론 구조가 한국의 무역 전략에 어떠한 함의를 갖는지 분석한다. 이를 위해 2025년 1월 20일부터 2026년 2월 17일까지 국내 4개 종합일간지에 게재된 관련 뉴스기사 7,297건을 수집하여 텍스트 네트워크 분석과 토픽모델링(LDA)을 수행하였다. 분석 결과 뉴스 담론은 ‘중국’, ‘협상’, ‘한국’, ‘무역’ 등을 중심으로 형성되었으며, 관세전쟁이 미·중 갈등 속에서 협상 과정과 한국 경제에 미치는 영향과 함께 보도되는 경향이 나타났다. 토픽모델링 결과 금융시장 반응과 거시경제 전망, 통상 협의와 외교 조정, 기업 전략과 산업 경쟁, 정상외교와 보복 조치, 핵심 산업 중심 관세 이슈, 국제질서와 경제안보 프레임의 여섯 개 주제 군집이 도출되었다. 이러한 결과는 관세전쟁이 정치적 이벤트, 시장 반응, 산업 구조 변화, 국제질서 재편이 결합된 복합적 이슈로 인식되고 있음을 보여준다. 특히 자동차·반도체·철강 등 핵심 수출 산업과 글로벌 공급망 구조에 영향을 미칠 가능성이 있으며, 이는 한국의 통상 전략이 공급망 안정성과 경제안보를 고려하는 방향으로 재검토될 필요가 있음을 시사한다.
