The purpose of this study is to define adolescence as a “Period of Calling”-a process of responding to God’s calling-and to examine the role of the congregation in fostering a “Double Calling Identity” among Christian youth to address the increasing phenomenon of their departure from the Korean church. During this dynamic phase, Christian youth transition from a passive, self-centered faith dependent on their parents to an independent stage as God’s workers through a voluntary and dependent response to Him. This study conceptualizes this transformative period as the “Period of Calling.” Currently, youth in this stage face identity confusion as they navigate the tension between secular, exam-oriented values and their faith, leading to their exodus from the local church. Drawing on Jeon Byoungjae’s concept of “Double Calling,” which is rooted in Reformational theology, this research argues that a youth’s calling identity is formed through organic interaction with the congregation as the Body of Christ. Specifically, based on Malan Nel’s “Inclusive Congregational Approach,” the study delineates the congregation’s role within youth ministry as being “For,” “With,” and “By” the youth. The study concludes that fundamental spiritual restoration for the next generation is achieved when the congregation acts as a spiritual companion, enabling youth to truly experience the Body of Christ. This research is significant in defining adolescence as a “Period of Calling” and proposing a practical paradigm for transforming youth ministry within the local church.

본 연구는 한국교회 기독 청소년(Christian youth)의 신앙 이탈 문제를해결하기 위해, 청소년기를 하나님의 부르심에 응답하는 과정인 소명기(Period of Calling)로 정의하고 기독 청소년의 이중소명 정체성(Double Calling Identity) 형성을 돕기 위한 회중의 역할을 고찰하는데 목적이 있다. 기독 청소년은 부모를 의존하는 수동적이고 자기중심적인 신앙단계를 벗어나, 하나님의 부르심에 하나님을 의존하는 자발적인 응답 과정을 통해 하나님의 일꾼으로 독립하게 되는데, 본 연구는 이역동적 시기를 소명기로 개념을 정의하였다. 현재 소명기에 있는 기독청소년들은 입시 중심의 세속적 가치관과 신앙 사이에서 정체성 혼란을겪으며 지역교회(local church)를 이탈하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 종교개혁자들의 소명론에 뿌리를 둔 이중소명(Double Calling)을 바탕으로 기독 청소년의 소명 정체성이 그리스도의 몸인 회중(congregation)과의유기적 상호작용을 통해 형성됨을 논증하였다. 이를 근거로 Malan Nel 이 제시한 포괄적 회중접근법(An Inclusive Congregational Approach) 을 중심으로 회중의 역할을 청소년을 위한(For), 청소년과 함께하는(With) 그리고 청소년에 의한(By) 청소년사역(youth ministry)으로 구체화하여 제시하였다. 본 연구는 회중이 소명기에 있는 기독 청소년의영적 동반자가 되어 그리스도의 몸을 경험하게 할 때 다음 세대인 기독청소년의 본질적 영적 회복이 가능함을 강조하였다. 본 연구는 기독 청소년의 청소년기를 소명기로 개념을 정의하고, 지역교회 청소년사역의변화를 위한 실천적 사역 패러다임을 제안했다는 점에서 연구의 의의가있다.
