The purpose of this study is to examine the entrepreneurship and social contributions of Park Chung-hong, a Japanese-Korean entrepreneur, with particular focus on his role in Korea–Japan social and cultural engagement. A qualitative case study methodology was employed to analyze his entrepreneurial trajectory and philanthropic activities. The findings are as follows. First, after retiring from Osaka Heung-eun Bank, Park Chung-hong founded Trust Partners at the age of 59, motivated by a commitment to supporting business revitalization for Japanese-Korean entrepreneurs. This decision reflects a strong entrepreneurship characterized by proactiveness and a high tolerance for risk. Second, drawing upon the accumulated financial and managerial expertise gained during his tenure at Osaka Heung-eun Bank, Park expanded into corporate restructuring consultancy and the food service industry, eventually developing the Trust Group. This entrepreneurial pattern can be classified as a hybrid type combining new-industry independent entrepreneurship and adaptive imitation-based transition entrepreneurship. Third, Park’s entrepreneurial philosophy is grounded in the principles of unity of knowledge and action and innate moral awareness, emphasizing self-reflection and realism. These values are manifested in his perseverance-oriented grit mindset and his sustained commitment to social contribution. Fourth, his social contributions include strengthening the economic foundation of the Japanese-Korean community through corporate growth, contributing to the economic development of his home country, and promoting cultural exchange between Korea and Japan. In particular, the “WASSO” Festival, inspired by a spirit of cultural patronage, has played a significant role in fostering identity formation among second- and third-generation Japanese-Koreans and enhancing bilateral cultural understanding. In conclusion, Park Chung-hong’s entrepreneurship represents an integrated model of entrepreneurship that transcends economic activity by combining social responsibility with cultural exchange, offering meaningful implications for research on diaspora entrepreneurship and socially responsible business leadership.

본 연구는 재일동포 기업가 박충홍 회장의 기업가 정신과 한·일 사회적 공헌의 성격을 고찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 방법으로는 질적 사례분석 방법론을 활용하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 박충홍 회장은 오사카흥은 퇴직 후 59세에 트러스트 파트너스를 창업하였으며, 그 창업 동기는 재일동포 상공업자들의 기업 재생을 지원하는 데 있었다. 이는 진취성과 위험감수성을 핵심으로 하는 기업가 정신의 발현이라 할 수 있다. 둘째, 박충홍 회장의 창업 유형은 오사카흥은에서 축적한 금융 및 경영 노하우를 기반으로 기업 재생 컨설팅과 외식산업에 진출하여 트러스트그룹으로 성장한 사례로, 신산업 독립형과 신모방 전업형의 복합적 특성을 지닌다. 셋째, 박충홍 회장의 기업가 정신은 현실을 직시하고 자기 성찰을 중시하는 ‘지행합일’과 ‘양지(良知)’의 사상에 기반을 두고 있으며, 이는 그릿(Grit) 정신과 사회적 공헌의 실천으로 구체화되었다. 넷째, 그의 사회적 공헌은 트러스트그룹의 성장을 통한 재일동포 사회의 경제적 기반 강화와 모국 경제 발전에의 기여, 그리고 메세나 정신에 입각한 ‘왔소’ 축제를 통한 재일동포 차세대의 정체성 확립과 한·일 문화교류 증진으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 박충홍 회장의 기업가 정신은 단순한 경제활동을 넘어 사회적 책임과 문화적 교류를 결합한 통합형 기업가 정신의 하나의 모델을 제시하고 있다.
