This study analyzed the tendency toward moral objectification - the perception of moral attitudes as objective facts - and explores the value of intellectual humility as a strategic alternative for its mitigation. Moral objectification often results in intellectual dogmatism and social intolerance. In response, this research defines intellectual humility as an epistemic virtue characterized by the ownership of one’s epistemic limitations and the respect for the epistemic authority of others. This trait serves as both a safeguard against the misuse of cognitive capacities that fuels moral objectification and a foundation for the qualitative transformation of moral attitudes. Furthermore, by proposing a ‘Mutual Understanding Instruction Model’, this study proposes specific pedagogical strategies for the practical cultivation of intellectual humility.

본 연구는 도덕적 태도를 사실로 인식하는 도덕적 객관화 경향을 분석하고, 이를 완화하기 위한 대안으로서 지적 겸손의 가치를 탐색하였다. 도덕적 객관화는 인지적 독단과 불관용을 초래한다. 이에 지적 겸손을 인식적 한계를 소유하며 타자의 인식적 권위를 존중하는 인식적 덕으로 정의하였다. 이는 도덕적 객관화로의 인지적 역량의 오용을 막는 안전장치이자, 도덕적 태도의 질적 전환을 도모하는 바탕이 된다. 나아가 바그너와 바이람의 상호문화적 시민성 모델을 재구성한 상호이해 수업 모델을 제안하여 지적 겸손의 함양을 위한 구체적인 수업 방안을 제시하였다.
