This study aims to explore the approaches and methods of value education in moral education by focusing on values as a core psychological mechanism guiding both individual behavior and social practices. It examines the meaning and characteristics of values, reviews general approaches to value education, and analyzes how value education in moral education can be differentiated from that in other subjects. Building on this analysis, the study proposes two approaches: one based on ethical inquiry into the nature of values, and the other grounded in their moral-psychological functions. The former emphasizes conceptual analysis and critical reflection, while the latter highlights how values operate as psychological mechanisms at both individual and socio-cultural levels. This integrated approach, informed by ethics and moral psychology, suggests a way to develop value education consistent with the academic identity of moral education.

본 연구는 가치가 개인과 사회의 행동을 이끄는 핵심적 기제라는 점에 주목하여, 도덕과 가치교육의 접근과 방법을 체계적으로 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 가치의 의미와 특성, 가치교육의 일반적 방법을 검토하고, 도덕과 가치교육의 차별화 가능성을 분석하였다. 나아가 가치에 대한 윤리적 탐구와 가치의 도덕심리적 기능에 기반한 가치교육을 통합적 접근으로 제안하였다. 이러한 접근은 도덕과 교육의 배경 학문인 윤리학과 도덕심리학에 기반하여, 도덕과 교육의 학문적 정체성에 근거한 가치교육의 방향과 실천 방안을 제시한다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.
