This study aims to empirically examine the effects of the characteristics of AI-based comic creation tools on webtoon creators’ work efficiency and creative satisfaction, and to investigate the mediating role of work efficiency in the relationship between these variables. To achieve this, the characteristics of AI-based comic creation tools were categorized into storytelling diversity, prompt-based controllability, and output quality, and their effects on work efficiency and creative satisfaction were analyzed in an integrated manner. A survey was conducted targeting webtoon creators with experience in using AI-based comic creation tools, and a total of 411 valid responses were collected. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results are as follows. First, the characteristics of AI-based comic creation tools were found to have a significant positive effect on work efficiency. Second, the characteristics of AI-based comic creation tools also had a significant positive effect on creative satisfaction. Third, work efficiency was found to have a significant positive effect on creative satisfaction. Fourth, work efficiency was found to significantly mediate the relationship between the characteristics of AI-based comic creation tools and creative satisfaction. These findings suggest that AI-based creative tools play an important role beyond merely generating outputs, by enhancing creators’ work efficiency and, in turn, increasing their creative satisfaction.

본 연구는 AI 기반 만화 제작 도구의 특성이 웹툰 창작자의 작업 효율성과 창작 만족도에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하고, 작업 효율성이 이들 관계에서 매개적 역할을 수행하는지를 규명하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 AI 기반 만화 제작 도구의 특성을 스토리텔링 다양성, 프롬프트 기반 통제 가능성, 생성 결과 품질로 구분하고, 이들이 작업 효율성과 창작 만족도에 미치는 영향을 통합적으로 분석하였다. 연구를 위해 AI 기반 만화 제작 도구를 활용한 경험이 있는 웹툰 창작자를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 총 411부의 유효 표본을 확보하였다. 수집된 자료는 구조방정식 모형(SEM)을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, AI 기반 만화 제작 도구의 특성은 작업 효율성에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, AI 기반 만화 제작 도구의 특성은 창작 만족도에도 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 셋째, 작업 효율성은 창작 만족도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 넷째, 작업 효율성은 AI 기반 만화 제작 도구의 특성과 창작 만족도 간의 관계를 유의하게 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 AI 기반 창작 도구가 단순히 결과물을 생성하는 기능을 넘어, 창작자의 작업 효율성을 향상시키고 이를 통해 창작 만족도를 높이는 중요한 역할을 수행함을 시사한다.
