This study reconstructs the emergence of the disability women’s movement by focusing on the magazine Gonggam, published by the Women with Disabilities Empathy, and analyzes the agendas proposed through its publishing activism over two decades. Emerging alongside the diversification of the women’s movement in the late 1990s, the disability women’s movement centered on the identity of “women with disabilities” and carried out various activities, including the Women with Disabilities School, the Counseling Center for Sexual Violence against Women with Disabilities, and the theater group Dancing Waist. Among these, publishing activism is particularly notable. Through magazines, books, and collected materials, the movement produced resources that are well suited for tracing the history and trajectory of the disability women’s movement. The magazine Gonggam created a space where women with disabilities could directly articulate their lives and thoughts through dialogues, interviews, and essays. The discourses generated in this process were closely connected to the agendas of the disability women’s movement. These can be understood as forms of theory embodied and drawn from lived experiences. In addition, Gonggam consistently carried out critical work on the representation of women with disabilities, engaging in media criticism across literature, film, and music videos. This demonstrates that critical discourse could emerge in advance even without the fully institutionalized theoretical framework later known as Disability Studies. The disability women’s movement reflected in Gonggam can be seen as anticipating what is now discussed as intersectional politics, and it clearly demonstrates the process of self-theorization by women with disabilities. By generating new political possibilities grounded in lived experience, Gonggam established itself as a medium that embodies the political and aesthetic potential of the disability women’s movement.

본고는 장애여성공감에서 발간하는 잡지 『공감』을 중심으로 1990년대 후반 장애여성운동의 등장과 문제의식을 재구하며, 이후 약 20년간 장애 여성운동이 출판운동을 통해 제시한 의제를 분석했다. 1990년대 후반 여성운동의 분화와 발맞춰 등장한 장애여성운동은 ‘장애 를 가진 여성’이라는 정체성을 중심으로, 장애여성학교, 장애여성성폭력상 담소, 극단 ‘춤추는허리’ 등 다양한 활동을 펼쳐왔다. 이중 특히 눈에 띄는 것은 출판운동으로, 잡지와 단행본, 자료집 등 장애여성운동의 역사와 궤적을 살피는 데 적합한 자료라고 할 수 있다. 잡지 『공감』은 대담과 인터뷰, 에세이 등을 통해서 장애여성이 직접 자신의 삶과 생각을 발화하는 자리를 만들었으며, 이때 만들어진 담론은 장애여성운동의 의제와 맞닿아 있었다. 자신의 삶에서 길어올리고 체화한 이론이다. 뿐만 아니라 장애여 성재현과 관련된 비평적 개입을 꾸준히 수행하면서 문학, 영화, 뮤직비디 오 등 다양한 미디어에 대한 비평을 진행한다. 좌담과 비평문을 통해 이루어진 이러한 작업은 문화비평에 장애학적 시선이 개입되어 펼쳐진다. 『공감』의 장애여성운동은 현재의 교차성 정치를 선취한 것으로, 장애 여성의 자기이론화 작업을 잘 보여준다. 자신의 삶과 체험으로 새로운 정 치적 가능성을 만들어내는 『공감』의 행보는 장애여성운동의 정치적이고 미학적인 가능성을 담보하는 매체로 자리잡았다.
