This study begins by collecting data on quotation expressions in the Gangwon region from The Comprehensive Collection of Korean Oral Literature, published in the 1980s, and by analyzing the characteristics of these expressions. In the Gangwon region, direct quotations are used more frequently than indirect ones, and quotation markers and verbs are often omitted. The typical quotation marker ‘lago’ is rarely used, while quotation verbs such as ‘ileoda’, ‘geuleoda’, and ‘hada’ are predominant. Since the quotation expressions show little variation across dialects, they have not received significant attention from dialect researchers. However, dialect research requires not only a study of the distinctive phenomena of individual dialects but also an approach that considers daily spoken Korean language. This shift in perspective contributes to completing the grammatical systems of individual dialects and helps to supplement dialect data that has been overlooked in spoken language research.

이 연구는 1980년대에 간행된 『한국구비문학대계』에서 강원지역 인용표현의 자료를 수집하고 그 특징을 분석하는 것에서 출발한다. 강원지역 인용표현은 간접인용보다 직접 인용이 많이 나타나고, 인용표지와 인용동사가 생략되는 경우가 빈번하다. 또한 전형적인 인용표지인 ‘(이)라고’의 실현이 드물고 ‘이래다(이러다), 그래다(그러다), 하다’ 등의 인용 동사가 주류를 이룬다. 강원지역의 인용표현은 방언 간의 차이가 크지 않기 때문에 그간 방언 연구자들의 관심을 받지 못하였다. 그러나 방언 연구는 개별방언의 특징적 현상뿐만 아니라 방언차가 크지 않은 자료에 대해서도 한국어 일상 구어의 관점에서 접근할 필요가 있다. 이러한 관점 변화는 개별방언의 문법 체계를 완성하는 데 일조하며, 구어 연구에서 간과하였던 방언자료의 보완에 기여한다.
