This study aims to analyze the short shots of short-form dramas, which are growing explosively in the mobile-oriented era, and to suggest effective image expression techniques for vertical shots that can be practically applied in the short-form dramas production process. Short-form dramas, unlike traditional horizontal shots, use vertical shots with a 9:16 aspect ratio, so the method of image expression has completely changed. In this study, short-form dramas with high user preferences were selected to analyze the shorts used, and based on the principle of visual aesthetics, short sizes, character positon, and vertical space utilization were examined. Therefore, first, additional headroom can give stability in the Character Shot, second, the Over the Shoulder Shot to focus on the main character while adjusting the distance between the characters. third, effective space explanation can be expressed by dividing the vertical space of the Full Shot, and fourth, emotional immersion can be maximized to the character by intentionally adjusting the looking room in the Close-Up Shot. The results of this study are expected to help properly express the video of the vertical shots during the short-form drama production process.

본 연구는 모바일 중심 시대에 폭발적으로 성장하고 있는 숏폼 드라마의 쇼트를 분석하여 숏폼 드라마 제작과정에 실제 적용할 수 있는 버티컬 쇼트의 적절한 영상 표현기법을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 숏폼 드라마는 기존 가로형 영상과 달리 9:16의 화면비율인 버티컬 쇼트를 사용하기 때문에 영상 표현 방법이 완전히 달라졌다. 이 연구에서는 이용자의 선호도가 높은 숏폼 드라마를 선정하여 촬영에 사용된 쇼트를 분석하고, 영상미학 원리를 기반으로 쇼트 사이즈, 인물 배치, 수직 공간 활용 등을 살펴보았다. 숏폼 드라마의 쇼트에서는 가로형 영상의 문법을 그대로 차용하여 헤드룸 및 수직 공간 활용 등에 미숙함을 보였다. 따라서 첫째, 인물 쇼트에서 헤드 룸을 추가 확보하여 안정감을 주고, 둘째, 오버숄더 쇼트에서 인물 간 거리를 조절하면서 주 인물에 집중시키며, 셋째, 풀 쇼트의 수직 공간을 위아래로 분할 활용하여 효과적인 공간 설명을 하고, 넷째, 클로즈업 시 루킹룸을 의도적으로 조절하여 인물에게 감정 몰입을 극대화하는 등 버티컬 쇼트에 맞는 적절한 영상 표현이 필요하다. 이 연구의 결과는 숏폼 드라마 제작과정에서 버티컬 쇼트의 영상을 적절하게 표현하는 데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다.
