This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the post-high school career paths of youth with migration backgrounds including both those with personal and parental migration experiences through the lens of Urie Bronfenbrenner’s Ecology of Human Development. To this end, the study selected six individuals who appeared in the EBS documentary as research subjects. The researcher participated in the production of the documentary to collect video data and in-depth interview transcripts, which were then systematically analyzed using Bronfenbrenner’s ecological framework: the microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, and macrosystem. The analysis revealed that at the microsystem level, the instability of family structure was a significant factor. At the mesosystem level, the connectivity between family, school, and the local community, along with the specific functions of these communities, influenced career trajectories. At the exosystem level, visa policies emerged as the most direct and powerful factor affecting the career paths of all participants. Finally, at the macrosystem level, South Korea’s jus sanguinis (right of blood) nationality law functioned as a mechanism of structural exclusion for all subjects.

본 연구는 부모 또는 본인이 이주 경험을 가진 이주배경 청년의 고교 졸업 후 진로에 영향을 미치는 요인을 브론펜브레너(U.Bronfenbrenner)의 인간발달생태학(the Ecology of Human Development)관점에서 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 EBS 다큐 멘터리 <시민미완: 경계의 청년들>에 출연한 이주배경 청년 6인의 사례를 연구 대상 으로 선정하였다. 연구자는 다큐멘터리 제작에 참여하여 방송 영상 자료와 인터뷰 녹 취록을 수집하였고, 브론펜브레너의 생태학적 환경 체계인 미시체계, 중간체계, 외체 계, 거시체계의 분석틀을 활용하여 체계적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 미시체계 차원 에서 가족 구조의 불완전성이. 중간체계 차원의 가족-학교-지역사회 간 연계 및 커뮤니 티의 기능이 진로에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다. 외체계 차원의 비자 정책은 사 례자 모두의 진로에 가장 직접적이고 강력한 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났으며, 거 시체계 차원에서는 한국의 속인주의 국적법이 모든 사례자에게 구조적 배제로 작용하 였음을 확인하였다.
