This article examines Xiqu Xiaoshuo Congkao(戏曲小说丛考), the representative work by Ye Dejun(1911-1956), from a structural perspective, with particular attention to the scholarly system reflected in its overall composition. While previous studies have largely approached Ye Dejun’s scholarship through specific fields such as storytelling literature or folk literature, this study shifts attention to the internal structure of his major work by analyzing the relationship between the arrangement of its constituent essays and the research methods employed therein. Through this structural analysis, the article aims to clarify the internal logic of Ye Dejun’s scholarly system as reflected in the organization of the collected essays. The analysis demonstrates that Xiqu Xiaoshuo Congkao is structured around studies of drama and fiction as its core, with a gradual extension into the domain of folk literature, and that a relatively stable correspondence exists between the distribution of research subjects and the methodological approaches applied. In particular, the arrangement of research subjects and essay types forms a coherent structural framework that reflects Ye Dejun’s scholarly orientation toward drama, fiction, and folk literature. From this perspective, Xiqu Xiaoshuo Congkao can be understood not merely as a collection of individual studies, but as a synthesized work in which Ye Dejun’s scholarly outlook is structurally embodied.

본 논문은 엽덕균(叶德均, 1911-1956)의 『희곡소설총고(戏曲小说丛考)』를 연구 대상으로 하여 구조적 관점에서 『총고』가 보여주는 학술 체계를 고찰하였다. 기존 연 구가 주로 설창 문학, 민간 문학 등 세부 영역에서 엽덕균의 학술 성과에 주목한 것 과 달리, 본 논문은 대표 저서의 편목 구성과 연구 대상의 배치 관계를 분석함으로써 엽덕균 학술 체계의 내적 논리를 밝히고자 하였다. 『총고』의 편목 구성 분석 결과, 『총고』는 희곡과 소설 연구를 핵심으로 하여 민간 문학 영역으로 확장되는 구조를 보이며, 연구 대상의 배치와 논의 전개 방식 사이에는 일정한 대응 관계가 형성되어 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 특히 문헌 자료 정리를 기 반으로 한 방법론과 문제의식 중심의 논증 방식은 상호 보완적으로 작동하며, 이는 『총고』전체를 관통하는 구조적 체계를 이룬다. 이러한 점에서 『총고』는 단순한 총 서가 아니라, 엽덕균의 학술 연구에서 연구 대상의 배치와 논의 전개 방식 사이의 대 응 관계가 구조적으로 드러나는 저작임을 제시하였다.
