This study seeks to explore the necessity of, and practical measures for, a form of battlefield ethics appropriate to combatants who, in war, pursue both universal human values and victory in battle and thereby experience value conflicts arising from their dual identity. Methodologically, it conducts a literature review of Kant’s and Nagel’s deontological ethics, Brandt’s and Hare’s teleological ethics, and Levinas’s ethics of responsibility, and examines contemporary battlefield cases in order to analyze the concrete ethical dilemmas and issues of responsibility that combatants face. The study develops an analytical framework that integrates deontology and teleology to redefine combatants’ identity in war, explores directions for the development of battlefield ethics grounded in an other‑oriented responsible subjectivity, and proposes both the implementation of battlefield ethics education and a Korean‑style ethical decision‑making model that incorporates mission and operational variables into Jack D. Kem’s ethical decision‑making model. Through this, the study aims to mitigate the value conflicts and moral injury experienced by combatants and to contribute to the establishment of combatant‑centered battlefield ethics and doctrinal development suited to the operational environment of the Republic of Korea Army.

본 연구는 전장에서 인류 보편의 가치와 전쟁에서의 승리라는 가치를 함께 추구함으로 가 치 갈등을 경험하는 전투원에게 적합한 전장윤리의 필요성과 실현 방안을 모색하고자 한다. 연구 방법으로 칸트와 네이글의 의무론, 브란트와 헤어의 목적론, 레비나스의 책임윤리에 관 한 문헌 연구를 수행하고 현대 전장 사례를 검토하여 전투원이 직면하는 구체적 윤리 딜레 마와 책임 문제를 분석하였다. 연구 내용은 의무론과 목적론을 통합한 분석의 틀을 통해 전 장에서 전투원의 정체성을 재규정하고, 타자 중심의 책임적 주체성을 기반으로 전장윤리의 발전 방향을 모색하며, 전장윤리교육의 실시와 잭 켐의 윤리적 의사결정 모델에 임무변수와 작전변수를 접목한 한국형 윤리적 의사결정 모델을 제안하였다. 이를 통해 전투원이 경험하 는 가치 갈등과 도덕적 손상을 완화하고 한국군 작전 환경에 적합한 전투원 중심의 전장윤 리 정립과 교리 발전에 기여하고자 한다.
