The purpose of this study is to investigate how the Alpha Program, one of the restorative justice programs implemented at Somang Correctional Institution, the first privately run correctional institution in Korea, is implementing restorative justice for inmates and what changes occur in volunteers. The research method was a case study among qualitative research methods. The program ran from March 6, 2025, to April 3, 2025, at Alpha Korea. ○○ ○ Church in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, participated as a volunteer.A total of 9 sessions were conducted over 5 weeks, in the morning and afternoon, and focus groups(FGI) were conducted among the participating volunteers. The research results are divided into three categories: ‘Preparing for Prison Alpha’, ‘Proceeding with Prison Alpha’, and ‘Completing Prison Alpha’. The 15 subcategories are: "Why Prison?", "Perception of Inmates", "First Encounter with Inmates", "Inmates'Reactions", "Changes in Inmates", "Changes in Me About Inmates", "Correctional Officers and Inmates", "Nostalgic Snacks", "Holy Spirit Day", "What I Wish for Inmates", "Thinking of Prison Alpha", "Alpha's Influence", "We Are One", "Happy Times", and "Invitation to Be an Alpha Helper". The contents were analyzed into 45 items. The conclusions based on the analysis results and the purpose of the study are as ollows. First, in played an important role as a corrective intervention program that promotes the process of inner reflection and growth in prisoners, inducing personality change, and enabling self-reflection and behavioral change through spiritual recovery. Second, in the case of volunteers who visited the prison for the first time, their negative preconceptions and prejudices about the prison gradually eased as they experienced the restorative space. Through Alpha, they were able to hear the prisoners reflect on their istakes and pledge to resocialize, which allowed them to understand the prisoners’ ituations and emotions more deeply, and this became an opportunity to change their perception of the prison and the prisoners. However, this study has the following limitations. First, it is limited to a limited number of programs within the Somang Correctional Institution. Additionally, it is suggested that rather than conducting research on all volunteers in prisons, only some program participants should be studied and comparative analysis should be conducted through research on other volunteers.

본 연구는 우리나라 최초 민영교도소인 소망교도소에서 회복적 사법을 실천하 고 있는 프로그램 중 하나인 알파 프로그램이 교도소 수용자에게 회복적 사법이 어떻게 구현되고 있는지 또한 자원봉사자에게는 어떤 변화가 있는지 연구하는 것이 목적이 있다. 연구방법은 질적연구 방법 중 사례연구로 하였다. 기간은 2025년 3월 6일부터 2025년 4월 3일까지 알파코리아에서 진행하고 경기도 파주시 ○○○교회 자원봉 사자이다. 총 5주 9회기를 오전과 오후로 진행하였으며 자원봉사자 중 초점집단 (FGI)으로 연구하였다. 연구결과는 3개의 범주는 ‘교도소 알파를 준비하며’, ‘교도소 알파를 진행하면서’, ‘교도소 알파를 마치며’이다. 15개 하위범주로 ‘왜? 교도소 인가?’, ‘수용자에 대한 인식’, ‘수용자와 첫 만남’, ‘수용자의 반응’, ‘수용자의 변 화’, ‘수용자에 대한 나의 변화’, ‘교도관과 수용자’, ‘추억의 간식’, ‘성령의 날’, ‘수 용자에게 바라는 점’, ‘교도소 알파를 생각하면’, ‘알파의 영향력’, ‘우리는 하나’, ‘행복한 시간’, ‘알파 도우미로 초청’이며, 내용은 45개로 분석되었다. 분석 결과를 통하여 연구 목적에 의한 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 수용자의 내 적 성찰과 성장 과정을 촉진하여 인성적 변화를 유도하고 영적 회복을 통하여 자기 성찰과 행동 변화를 가능하게 하는 교정적 개입 프로그램으로 중요한 역할 을 수행하고 있었다. 둘째, 처음 교도소를 방문한 자원봉사자의 경우 회복적 공 간을 경험하면서 교도소에 대한 부정적 선입견과 편견이 점차 완화되는 변화를 보였으며, 알파를 통하여 수용자가 자신의 과오를 반성하고 재사회화를 다짐하는 발언을 들으며 수용자의 상황과 정서를 보다 심층적으로 이해하였으며 교도소와 수용자에 관한 인식의 변화를 가져오는 계기가 되었다. 하지만, 이 연구는 다음과 같은 한계가 있다. 먼저 소망교도소 내 프로그램 중 일부 프로그램에 관한 연구라는 한계가 있다. 또한 교도소 내 모든 자원봉사자를 대상으로 연구한 것이 아닌 일부 프로그램 참여자만 연구하여 다른 자원봉사자 에 관한 연구를 통하여 비교 분석할 것을 제언한다.
