This study reinterprets the recent divisions within the Korean church not merely as the result of political or social conflicts, but as a theological issue rooted in the collapse of Augustine’s “order of love” (ordo amoris). Drawing upon Augustine’s distinction between enjoyment (frui) and use (uti) in On Christian Doctrine and the notion of the two cities in The City of God, the study analyzes the distortions of self-love, tradition-love, and grouplove within contemporary church communities. Distorted selflove manifests as self-affirmation and the desire for domination; distorted love of tradition arises when past practices are absolutized, producing generational conflict; and distorted group-love emerges when political ideologies are sacralized and elevated to the object of ultimate love. These distortions stem from misplacing created objects in the position reserved for God alone. The study argues that ecclesial restoration does not begin with new strategies or structural reforms. However, with recovering a proper order of love in which only God is the object of enjoyment, and all other elements are ordered toward Him. Such reordering provides a theological orientation for reconstructing the church as a community capable of dialogue across differing convictions and generations.

본 연구는 최근 한국 교회가 경험한 심화된 분열과 갈등을 정치적·사회적 현상의 결과로만 해석하지 않고, 아우구스티누스가 말한 ‘사랑의 질 서’(ordo amoris)의 붕괴라는 신학적 관점에서 재해석한다. 『그리스도교 교양』의 향유(frui)와 이용(uti)의 구분, 그리고 『신국론』의 두 도성 개념을 토대로 현대 교회에서 나타나는 자기 사랑, 전통 사랑, 집단 사랑의 왜곡 을 분석하였다. 자기 사랑의 왜곡은 자기 확증과 지배 욕망으로, 전통 사 랑의 왜곡은 관행의 절대화와 세대 갈등으로, 집단 사랑의 왜곡은 정치 이 데올로기의 신앙화로 나타난다. 이러한 세 왜곡은 모두 하나님을 향유해 야 할 자리에 피조물을 두는 전도된 사랑의 구조에서 비롯된다. 이에 본 연구는 교회 공동체의 회복을 새로운 제도나 전략이 아닌, 하나님만을 향 유의 대상으로 두고 모든 요소를 질서 있게 재배치하는 사랑의 질서 회복 속에서 찾고자 한다. 사랑의 질서 회복은 상이한 신념과 세대가 대화 가능 한 공동체로 재형성되는 신학적 방향성을 제공한다.
