Regarding the contemporary crises of Korean Christianity, often rebuked for a deficiency in ‘social spirituality’ encompassing public responsibility and communicative hospitality, Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s ethics provide insights for public discourse and the ethics of the Other. Most notably, Bonhoeffer’s pursuit of synthesizing social spirituality with inward devotion constitutes a definitive Christian identity. Defined as a ‘spirituality for outward engagement,’ his social spirituality—centered on the hallmarks of prayer and righteous action—is fundamentally grounded in discipleship. This underscores the necessity for discipleship training to move beyond the confines of individualistic piety toward the realization of social spirituality.

공적 책임과 소통, 그리고 공감과 환대 등 ‘사회적 영성’의 결여를 지 탄받는 한국기독교의 문제적 정황과 관련하여, 본회퍼의 윤리는 공적 책 임과 소통의 공공성, 그리고 공감과 환대의 타자성을 위한 길잡이라고 할 수 있다. 무엇보다도, 본회퍼가 사회적 영성을 구현하면서 내면적 영성과 의 통합을 추구한 것은 기독교적 정체성이자 차별성이다. ‘밖으로 나가기 위한 영성’으로서, 기도와 정의를 강조한 본회퍼의 사회적 영성은 제자도 에 근거한 것이라고 할 수 있다. 제자훈련에서도 개인적-내면적 영성에 머물지 않고 사회적 영성을 지향해야 함을 말해준다
